Way too many people go straight back but all my best research breakthroughs come from going wide, so you’re doing great focusing on that early. But also it makes me want to shake some ancestors and tell them they could have stopped after a certain number to save me some trouble.

And that’s not a complete list (see also me walking into traffic on Delmar today and my endless Cortex/Forest Park complaints) but it’s exhausting. I’m sick of being an afterthought.

It is constant that safety improvements have absolutely no consideration for safety during the construction phase. And that usually is a sign of what to expect once the project finishes. So far this year it’s been Jefferson, Compton, Kingshighway, Hampton, 20th Street, Gravois at Russell and TGA.

St. Louis Lambert International Airport on Monday will break ground on a new airfield maintenance and snow removal equipment facility, an important step before the larger project begins. Also buried in the business journal story are the vendors for the larger terminal project 👀
In 2024, the airport's airlines authorized another $650 million in spending on the single-terminal project. That's for an eventual reopening of Concourse D and part of Concourse C in Terminal 1, as Concourse A carriers would be forced to move because of
construction. Other projects include the demolition of vacant buildings, as well as project architectural design.
The vendors for the overall project now are:
HOK for terminal design; HDR for roadway and new parking garage architecture;
AECOM Hunt and Clayco for construction management of the terminal; Alberici and Tarlton for roadway construction; and Kwame Building Group and WSP as program
manager.

I can confirm that looks nearly identical to when I last walked there.

seems like a politics of revenge against people who live in cities, conducted on behalf of furious and demented republicans who will never visit those cities, and who are, at the same time, a little disenchanted with the movement

Absolutely amazing documentary I was lucky to see a showing of tonight at the Hi Pointe. Joining Walter Johnson, Gwen Moore (neither of whom are on bluesky) in the film to provide great historical context to Percy's one of a kind social justice action, is @devintoshea.bsky.social

I'm going to be on the news one day for screaming at people like that. So help me.

I had the worst burrs on me because I had to dodge the entire sidewalk closure of the 20th street build underway up in St. Louis Place. They were ridiculously stabby and I can commiserate. We shouldn't have to wear boots or long pants just to travel around the city.

That corner is one of the worst offenders, but also I walked lots of Soulard yesterday and they definitely aren’t the only offenders. People sure get mad if you tell them their golf carts don’t belong on sidewalks.

Soldan High on Union is offline this school year due to the tornado. Old Euclid School was vacant and got hit hard. On bottom row are streetviews of damaged residences on Euclid near Euclid School.
Boarded up windows throughout the three story bastion of brick beauty. Severe roof damage visible on the 3-4 story brick school. Severe damage to a row of two story brick buildings. A ladder with a worker is visible on one... a sign of hopeful recovery. Severe damage to a row of brick residences.

I have seen a lot of decline even since winter 2023/2024. I feel like its days are numbered and it's such an interesting historic enclave there.

Oh my gosh, I was just on the other side of this house. I’m constantly worried it’ll be demolished so I was checking on it as I was coming back from my Soulard walk. I’m going to pretend we were on opposite sides at the same time.

One tried to get me today at Gravois, pulling out of an alley. Another on Jefferson, mad that another vehicle would dare yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. I should be able to walk to/from breakfast without fearing for my life and yet…
