I was thinking more about the state reps. I feel like the house would be more interesting if there were more people with long time experience.

Remember when these guys ran a completely fabricated story about trans kids sourced to a single bigot who worked at St Louis Children’s Hospital and it got so much traction that they ended a bunch of programs for trans kids because of all the bomb threats

“ABC7 spoke to Pertissue Fisher, a woman who lives in the building. She said ICE agents took everyone in the building, including her, and asked questions later….’They was bringing the kids down, too, had them zip tied to each other.’”

It can’t happen here, you say. But it is happening.

It's becoming difficult to hide that a major purpose of the Trump administration is siphoning tax revenues from Blue states and redirecting them into subsidies for Red states. At what point does this become intolerable?

Vacant units come up a lot in discussions around the housing crisis

This is a good opportunity to go over what the data actually shows 🧵
shidass.bsky.social
Yeah, that’s what I thought. Keep your dishonest framing to yourself.

Klein’s housing policy fails to address the fundamental cause of this housing crisis.

In the US, there are currently 15mil vacant homes. There are ~650,000 homeless.

🚨NEW: For the first time in history, the single largest group of people arrested in the interior and sent to ICE detention is people with NO criminal record.

As of yesterday's data release, 40%(!) of those arrested in the interior and detained by ICE had no prior conviction or pending charges.
Chart shows Detention Population, Among Those Arrested by ICE in the Interior, by Criminal Record. The chart shows three lines; Prior conviction, pending criminal charges, and no criminal record. From 2019 through September 2025, the largest group is people with criminal convictions, with much further down people with pending charges. But starting in January, those without criminal records spikes dramatically. In July it crossed pending charges and in the latest data it jumps above criminal convictions.

Expand the court, yes, but also make the court into rotating terms drawn from the circuits, panels of 5-7 justices that are determined after cert is granted so petitioners don't know their judges in advance and so can enforce ethics recusals.

The Supreme Court is clearly off the rails, and talk of expanding the Court is increasing again.

The rest of the neighborhood started filling in gradually with the bulk happening after the 1890s - 1900s (here is a map from 1894 where you can see the parts that were still orchards and didn’t have any roads)

The second was McRee City, which developed around the Tower Grove RRS (originally called Taylor Wick Station) after the 1860s.

There were 2 initial points of development in what is today FPSE: 1. Rock Spring which was settled in 1830 and was where travelers would stop to freshen up at the springs before continuing on the last few miles journey into the city.

C-8 was mostly built out between 1901-1904 as worker housing for the World’s Fair. Rock Spring was the small Black community.

Here’s an example of some of the old housing that was in D-3. It was demolished mid-century to create the playground for Adams.

D-4 had a small Black community but D-3 and C-8 were mostly German immigrants. The oldest housing was in D-3. B-8 was Gibson Heights, which had deed restrictions on height and material (brick).
