oh it is #WorldPolychaeteDay!
and I used this beautiful weirdo photo to doodle this #SciArt piece last year while half delirious after a flight from the UK to Seattle 🪱
drawing of a sea worm on a black background, unlike earthworms it is covered in little leg/hair like structures, and it is iridescent rainbows, from blues, purples, reds, oranges, browns and yellows.

Good news: a grant I submitted got selected for an interview out of ~150 apps. Only 2 others got interviews!

Bad news: @skypeascientist.bsky.social was not selected in the end 😞

I will keep trying.

In the meantime, consider supporting our work with $5-10/month?

Im guilty of this thinking and dont particularly love swift, but actively telling myself to quit it and wish others did the same. Like we can critique and uplift without turning two friends against each other

The biggest ick seeing people continually pit women against each other. Ie hayley williams and taylor swift, who are literally friends

When doing a poster with multiple species, do you think making each species size in relation to each other is important? Or can i do whatever i want

Telescope octopus (genus Amphitretus) are gelatinous, transparent and almost colourless octopuses with unique tubular eyes. It is thought that these eyes help give them excellent peripheral vision.

They are also quite small, with a mantle length of 9 cm.

Happy world squid and cuttlefish day!!

Text your friend a squid fact. Watch a video of a cuttlefish doing something cute.
Doodle a squid and then show it to me.

The world is cruel but squid are good.

I just read a book that featured vultures who would watch over a house because of ghost/demon activity. And currently sitting outside of my job for lunch and theres like an ungodly amount of vultures circling and perching on my work building. I think I work at the bad place.

I'm doing another print run of these "Biology is Bigger than Binaries" shirts!

Back, quite literally, by popular demand. Bullying works, sure, but so does a bunch of nice cutie patooties politely asking!

Order 'em now, I'll mail 'em in early November.

Historical scientific illustration of a squid (Loligo vulgaris) shown from a dorsal view. The squid is depicted with a rounded, elongated body covered in pink and greenish speckles. Its large eyes are prominently illustrated, along with ten tentacles, two of which extend to the sides and appear longer with detailed suction cups. To the right of the squid, an elongated, leaf-shaped internal shell or gladius is displayed separately. The illustration is labeled with scientific terms and appears on an aged beige background, typical of 19th-century natural history prints, emphasizing anatomical features for identification.
