I don't always do the best job of promoting my work - my name is Jack Foster, I'm a comic book artist & writer and creator on my own series, GUN (good guys are called capes, bad guys are guns) It's hand-painted in glorious, time-consuming watercolor & you can nab it here 👉 GUNcomic.com

Dear Taron Edgerton, you’ve done great through the audition process but as you know the Boss gets ‘final cut’ and speaking of cut, it looks like you’re out

Not my first X-men but the first one I got when I jumped on and started collecting. a sentimental fav, but also pleased with how iconic that cover became!

...the civil unrest and cultural changes in the 60s & 70s or was it just a the freedom to make these kinds of movies now free of the recently retired Hays Code? There's an argument to be made that all cinema got not just more violent but gorier, think the Godfather, Deliverance, Jaws & the Exorcist

one caveat though - the first introductory chapter is a little boilerplate - slashers were a response to vietnam/watergate/disillusionment w authority etc. nothing you haven't already heard. In the 2nd chapter though he poses an interesting question... was the horror boom in the 80s a response to...

Fellow Audible Subscribers!! Look what's 💸 free 💸 and perfect for spooky season🔪! Thoughtful & it helps that the author likes the genre but isn't a horror movie buff, it looks outside & around at what was influencing not just slasher flicks but the rest of cinema and the broader culture at the time

1/4 A short thread about supporting creators:
Friends - it's understandable, given costs, and a thousand other factors, that there are creators you choose to follow, whose work you enjoy online vicariously, through their posts and interactions.

Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” hits #1 today in 1983

It was originally “a vampire love song,” said writer Jim Steinman, “for a musical version of ‘Nosferatu’ .. When Bonnie came along, it was the perfect match .. her voice had that haunted, gothic quality .. pleading and defiant ..”

That's part of why I wrote this. It's important to understand that MAGA is not "real" America.

On the contrary, the reason they're all so fucking bitter is they know most people aren't like them. And they resent that.

I'm just a couple issues before you!! Captain Carrot #3. They sold them at newstands then, I was a kid & the costumed animals hit me right in the sweet spot. I think DC is doing an OK job of bringing in young readers but books like CC are the perfect gateway drugs! I got hooked on comics for life!!
