It would be entirely reasonable, moral, and legal self-defense to use Grandpa's old 12-gauge in the situation you described. Provided that the home invaders refused to identify themselves and their legal authority, and you believed that physical harm or death was imminent unless you took action.

REMINDER: The #2ndAmendment was primarily enacted to provide an armed citizenry with the means to resist a tyrannical, lawless government. Despite twisted MAGA culture, it wasn't intended for insecure men to compensate for lack of talent, or teenie-weenies.
