“their nanoparticle-based vaccine can effectively prevent melanoma, pancreatic and triple-negative breast cancer in mice. Not only did up to 88% of the vaccinated mice remain tumor-free (depending on the cancer), but the vaccine reduced—and in some cases completely prevented—the cancer’s spread.”

If you’re hearing news about a cancer break-through and wonder what’s hype and what’s not, here’s a good explainer of the actual findings in animal studies.

This is some elegant science that pulls together several lines of long-standing inquiry, and yes, it’s a BFD.

Few patients appeal a health insurance denial, but a little-known process that requires insurers and plans to seek an independent opinion can force insurers to pay for what can be lifesaving treatment.

Here’s what experts say you need to know.
How to Fight Your Health Insurance Denial with an External Appeal
When a health insurer refuses to pay for your treatment, you may have the right to have the denial reviewed — and potentially overturned — by an independent provider. Here are six steps experts sugges...

MoW update! Today was kitchen day and I’m still not feeling 100% so I was kinda slow. Though we were also shorthanded, so I am sure nobody noticed that it was me specifically. Lunch was Italian hamburger steak and we sent out 770 hot meals, 178 special meals, and 592 frozen meals today!

Vance: I’m sure that in the course of his life he has been paid more than $50,000 for services. The question is did he do something illegal.

Stephanopoulos: I’m asking if Homan accepted the $50,000

Vance: Is it illegal to take a payment for doing services? Low income women can’t get food

My version of this is that Vought, Yarvin etc represent a kind of braindead right-Gramscianism, which leaves out all the interesting subtleties and treats civil society _only_ as a realm of indoctrination, where one ideological master-narrative can readily be substituted for another.
jamellebouie.net
a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society
thomaszimmer.bsky.social
What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

Sens. Schumer, Merkley, Murray, and Peters are calling for the resignation of OMB Director Russell Vought.

"By impounding billions of dollars … and aggressively pursuing the illegal use of pocket rescissions, Vought has done everything in his power to gut the federal government piece by piece."

He was 19 at the time, he probably was pressured into pleading guilty. But that doesn’t really matter for the question at issue; why is ICE detaining him?

And if you want even more frustration; at the time he pled guilty (1980), the law which made his offense an aggravated felony didn’t even exist!
franceslarina.bsky.social
Really? And you don't think he might have been pressured to plead guilty? I raise the question because the government has already shown in his case that it cannot be trusted. Yet, you are trusting...the government's story. Do better, please.

The chances of the FBI, or IRS, investigating Homan’s $50K is 0. Keeping a list to use at a later date is more helpful. You could with CREW www.nytimes.com/2025/10/10/o...

One thing that got a little smushed yesterday at the Comey arraignment is that, in his 2d round motions, he may make a "Bronston literal truth" motion to dismiss. After learning more about the accusation, he'd argue that his answers, when compared to what govt claims, were true as a matter of law.
