It’s about time I joined in with a Davis art share!

Hi I’m Jen & I work traditionally with pencil & paper, sometimes ink & watercolours happen. It’s a bit sporadic at the moment & I will get back to drawing soon, if the day job ever lets up
Photo showing two Mari Lwyd illustrations on a white drawing board. The one on the left is of a woman wearing a horse skull with ribbons & flower garland. Completed in ink, watercolour & coloured pencil. The drawing on the right is a simple ink illustration featuring a side profile of a woman & a horse skull, lots of stylised flowing hair & ribbons. Photo of an ink illustration completed using a 0.5 Staedtler fine liner, my fave pen for pointillism. The subject is a side profile of Darth Vader, behind him is a peony but wait…! That’s no peony! That’s a Death Star lurking in the middle of that flower!! Photo of a portrait completed in pencil on Bristol board. My favourite medium to work with. The portrait is of a covered face, only the nose, mouth & chin are visible due to the amount of tight curly hair. Have I mentioned that I love drawing hair? I do love drawing hair Photo of a pencil portrait on toned paper. The subject is of the best version of Sherlock Holmes, Jeremy Brett. His head is turned to look towards the viewer who’s treated to that infamous gaze of his. Completed in pencil & white pencil for highlights & still one of my favourite ‘fan art’ pieces as I did manage to capture his likeness

Hey, I need some help 🥺

I’m from the EU and need public liability insurance in the UK for conventions and art markets.
Some companies say I can’t get it as a non-resident, others say I can but I’m not sure who to trust.

Has anyone dealt with this before or knows how to get it?

I feel for you! My sister in law was told a week ago that she had to be out by Xmas eve (now extended to New Year’s Eve) & she’s been renting the same place for almost 20yrs. I hope that you find somewhere soon!! Landlords are an arse.

Wow I'm sure nobody could've predicted this happening 🙄

About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages
Business Insider headline reads: UPS is telling customers that their packages coming to the US are marked for destruction.

For the next prompt, “Wisdom,” I don’t know whether to do something inspired by The Lion King or a mother bear with her cub and some salmon 🤔

Early morning autumn dog walks are the best for having a conversation with nature
Fungi the size & width of a dinner plate growing out of the side of a felled tree, surrounded by ivy. A very pretty pattern on the fungi with striations at the part where it’s attached. I have no idea what variety it is but it’s bigger than the photo suggests View looking down through a small clearing that telegraph poles run through. There’s water in the foreground, ferns that are starting to bronze in colour as they go, surrounded by trees just starting to change colour. The sky is a bit grey & misty More fungi that I don’t know the name of. These are smaller than the large one in the other pic & are mostly yellow & almost button mushroom like in size. They’re all gathered close together on a decaying log. When out on a dog walk, there’s always someone watching your progress. Hiding behind a wooden kickboard that defines the boundary of someone’s back garden is a black & white cat, making sure they’re not spotted by my idiot spaniel (not pictured)

Puffin brings a touch of joy to even the windiest cliffs and painting puffin brings that same joy. Behind the charm is a quiet strength; built for wind, wave, and wild weather. Capturing this is the challenge, but, I must admit, a very cute one.

here's another recent illustration for @wolf359project.bsky.social a dreamscape of horror - whats worse than the Borg?
An eerie illustration showing a scene of borg drones hanging as puppets controlled by a imposing figure - tentacles and wrecked starships litter the background

Towards you strides a towering Mûmakil. An elephant like creature several stories tall. With four massive tusks they are used as mobile war platforms going up against the army’s of men and the walls of Minis Tirith.

I’m not convinced that watercolours & I are friends today after having another pass at these tiny illustrations this morning but it is what it is & it’s all good practice

I’m still pleased with my composition & fineliner work even if my enthusiasm at watercolouring-in was a bit too enthusiastic
Two stylised fineliner illustrations that have been smothered in overenthusiastic watercolouring-in & are still taped to my board. On the left is a red squirrel holding a hazel/cobnut backlit by a moon, perched on a mossy log. On the right is a sleeping dormouse sat in an acorn cup still attached to its twig, surrounded by autumnal oak leaves. One day I’ll learn how to watercolour nicely… Two stylised fineliner illustrations that have been smothered in overenthusiastic watercolouring-in & are still taped to my board. On the left is a curled up sleeping dormouse, nestled amongst hazel & oak leaves & some hazel/cobnuts. The squirrel from the previous photo is on the right. One day I’ll learn how to watercolour nicely, maybe… Two stylised fineliner illustrations, bookmark size, that have been smothered in overenthusiastic watercolouring-in & are still taped to my board. On the left is a white mouse perched atop a blue poppy seed head holding a dandelion seed, against a light pink background. On the right is a white mouse atop a pile of hazel/cobnuts, most are brown, a couple are still green. In the distance is the curled up dormouse from the previous photo. One day I’ll learn how to watercolour nicely, we can but hope

In crimson, orange and bronze, autumn had arrived.
Fox had spent a rather enjoyable morning searching for the perfect collection of leaves.
She'd finally found it.
With a joyful soul and playful heart, she jumped.
In one fine leap, she pounced to catch her shadow.
