And into the block bin you go.

Someone, I can't remember who, once suggested that Diane Keaton was the perfect meshing of the two great Hepburns. Like both, she was fiercely independent, intelligent, savvy, and more, but a bit more mid-Atlantic and quirky like Kate and a bit more quirky and cosmopolitan like Audrey.

Psst... this was written before the family confirmed it publicly and all reporting was emanating from People. But, gee, good on you commenting on this well after.
jeremyjsharp.bsky.social
Alas, it seems Diane Keaton has indeed passed. Hard to believe. If there's a heaven, I hope Marshall McLuhan's there to explain it all before she goes in.
jeremyjsharp.bsky.social
But so far, all reports are going back to People, which is odd, and People is not a source I'd put too much stock in, ultimately.
jeremyjsharp.bsky.social
Given that so far the core source of this is People Magazine, take this with a huge grain of salt, but, if true, it's both shocking and very sad news. Here's hoping it's just not true, for now. *sigh*

FWIW, though STICK does have the deceased child in its rearview mirror, it's more for explanation of Owen Wilson's rudderlessness, esp. from his former wife. Most shows, even comedies, would've beaten that drum much more forcefully than STICK does.

/ and, yes, I hate kid-fridging, too.

Skipped the hour and... yep, entirely correct. Plus a shit ending and a shittier epilogue.

Again, why would someone film this atrocious script? This would barely have cut mustard for a subpar episode of MURDER, SHE WROTE.

And almost as immediately after that,CABIN 10 tips its hand-- well, turns it around and screams "hey, everyone, can you see these cards?" with all the ferocity of a Sam Kinison routine. Not even 30 minutes in and you know the ending. Saves an hour, I guess.

How the hell did this get made?!?!

And... immediately after posting this, the thing hurls us utterly artlessly into a hackneyed THE LADY VANISHES for the uber-rich. *sigh*
jeremyjsharp.bsky.social
Tentatively giving THE WOMAN IN CABIN 10 a go, but the establishing dialogue is some of the most contrived and hack-handed I've heard in ages. Baffling how any of this dialogue survived a first draft.

Wait, to be fair, both have long and insidious histories with instigation, belligerence, harassment, consent, corporate chicanery, blatant racism, outright criminality and undisguised nation-warping fascism.

Did I leave anything out? Oh, yes, the various issues related to underaged girls...

On the other hand, the Daily Mail appears to be launching a campaign for Donald Trump to be canonised...

Well, Colin Hanks' I LIKE ME, his doc about John Candy, is now on Prime. Technically, I could watch it now, but I'm just not ready for it yet. 30+ years later, and it still hurts.
jeremyjsharp.bsky.social
Ultimately, the PEACEMAKER finale and S2 overall felt pretty meh. To be clear, the actors, esp. Cena, excelled throughout, but so much of the season seems to have left way too much potential under-realized. I think it falls much more flat than S1 did. Oh well.

Then he insisted, "There was talk... of gerbils!!!"

From Donald Trump's Roundtable on Antifa just now —
"Antifa has been around in various iterations for almost 100 years in some instances, going back to the Weimar Republic in Germany."

Prime has a flick called BLOOD OF REDEMPTION which may be the most ridiculously bad film I've seen in ages. Sure, the writing, directing, acting and effects are all laughable, but it's the "action" sequences which are truly hilarious. It looks like stage-fighting kids would do in a home movie.

There's the old story of a racehorse being named "Norfolk and Clew."
jeremyjsharp.bsky.social
Including a literal drive-by from Harrison Ford and (sigh) Robin Williams throwing water in his own face...

What fascists and authoritarians hate-- HATE-- most of all is complex thought, that answers to problems and issues are never the cheap, lazy, simple and black-and-white ones they so desperately crave, if not for themselves than to manipulate others.
jeremyjsharp.bsky.social
The people who push this thinking resent education period, but with esp. furious contempt for the fields which threaten them most, like arts and humanities. Fascists and authoritarians always go after those first.

That said, they hate scientists and doctors, too-- until they decide they don't.
outonbluesix.bsky.social
How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

Hallelujah.

Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.

Never has the phrase "spotted in public" been more appropriate.
