If you lose 95% of your invertebrate species, and pollution is still within limits, maybe the limits need to be a little more regionally specific, rather than applying the values for coastal water tables to inland water tables.

I've got a friend whose parents are a former Catholic priest and nun. They left the church and became nurses. He's never gone into specifics about the precise order of events or how voluntary it was, but I'm pretty sure he's never been to mass.

Medical records systems do some weird conversions. I once told a nurse I use THC edibles, so they put THC in my chart. The next year my chart said I use some synthetic cannabinoid that's only prescribed to chemotherapy patients, and the doctor thought I had cancer and the chart was incomplete.

At my last job I volunteered to be a guinea pig for Linux Nvidia drivers, so I had IT's blessing to test the GPU on the work laptop however I saw fit during my commute. The downside was ~weekly freezes due to shitty Nvidia drivers.

Steam Dock works great for attaching a big display and a mouse. Pretty much any other USB-C PD dock will too. Or just plug directly into a USB-C PD monitor, since they're all USB hubs as well.

They've changed the behavior of functions in the past, but only on major releases where they mention the difference in the release notes. They can't do that here because they won't be able to reliably predict the changes, which will also happen far more frequently.

It's bad enough that this will spit out bullshit on budgets and research data analyses, but what's even worse is it might give the right answer on one machine and the wrong answer on another machine running a different version of the model.

This will ruin countless lives and the only correction will be a statement advising against using the COPILOT() function in a list of use cases that incrementally grows to include everything that people use spreadsheets for, one disaster at a time.

Sometimes you get a recruiter inquiry and it's extremely obvious that their client is racing to get a product to market while the government is still run by corrupt grifters who are disinterested in even the basic regulation that Capitalism relies on to function.

Some of them are probably competent but disinterested. A lot of those people have left voluntarily by now, but some may still be job hunting and half-assing the bad cases they're ordered to present.

I seem to be incapable of fully internalizing some facts I understand intellectually better than most people, as though my brain is protecting me from the corrupting influence of believing that this is the way the world is. So instead I'm often outraged by things I've seen coming for years.
