Thank you for this validation. I also like Astoria!
(Truly am not trying to yuck your yum! But it's definitely not mine!)
And yes, it could totally be in response to Max's work!
Followed by a bunch of neighbors saying, actually a diverter there would be great. Hard to tell if something was happening or if it was one person who was upset about the possibility of it happening ever
There's a whole NextDoor thread about PBOT reviving the diverter plan (I'm not sure if that's true), with a suggestion that the Eliot NA Land Use committee was organizing to stop it
Hmm, so confusing!
(Not trying to yuck anyone's yum here. Just wondering how I missed what is apparently defining to my cohort)
At the risk of getting kicked out of my state and my generation: I just have never understood the Goonies fandom. I thought it was just Oregonians but apparently it's a lot of Gen Xers? Are you a Gen Xer who has no connection to Oregon but adores the Goonies? Are you also a man?
Has anyone heard about PBOT wanting to install a diverter on NE 7th & Hancock? I saw a neighbor complain about it but didn't find info on the city website

NEW: I took a long look at the Proud Boys and found some of their most extreme chapters are sharing ICE recruiting materials on encrypted apps and even suggesting members have joined up. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/in-the-...
The first
Antifa
Counter Terrorism
Task Force
Trump already gave so many of us jobs with ICE. We may have to start recruiting soon to fill all these spots.
And bike-related businesses, too
Pouring rain and so many cheers
Bike ride coming through is huge! Ha!
All this tension building because a group ride takes longer than expected (which is how it always goes)
It’s a weird, scary, fun, tense protest party at the ICE building in Portland, waiting for the naked ride to come through. My favorite activity is spot-the-chud

Massive escalation at the Portland ICE facility. Worst I’ve ever seen. More pepper balls than I can count. Teargas in the middle of crowd. Violent arrests. Some type of either noise or rubber bullet shotgun fired into the air then later aimed at protesters chests/heads at near point blank range.

When he says he wants to “build a city where trans New Yorkers are cherished”
Not sure I’ve ever teared up from a political ad before. This is beautiful
UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.
Bad times, quality content
The NYTimes wisely hired Anna Griffin, one of the best journalists in Portland, as the head of its Pacific Northwest Bureau
President Trump continued to describe Portland, Ore., as a city on fire Friday even as residents enjoyed the first fall rain and the lone demonstrator at the city’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement building was dressed as a pink Care Bear. While taking questions from reporters in the White House, Mr. Trump said that “every time I look at that place, it’s burning down” and claimed that when store owners in Portland need to make repairs, they “build it out of plywood.” Buildings are still constructed with wood, concrete, steel and other modern construction materials in Oregon.
I was just there! Watching the Thorns game
