I worked really hard on this for a very long time and am incredibly proud of it. It’s a long read, but for #Bluejays fans who remember that one swing a decade ago and all the madness that surrounded it, it will be well worth it. Please give it a look!
A controversial call, furious fans and The Bat Flip: An oral history of the game that turned Jose Bautista into a Blue Jays icon
Ten years ago on Oct. 14, the Toronto Blue Jays slugger cemented his icon status with one powerful swing followed by an unforgettable flip of his bat.

Trump said he deserved a cut for brokering the TikTok deal, and at once there was agreement that his son Baron would have a top executive slot... though he hasn't asked for it, and has no apparent qualifications to hold it. This is how Trump 2.0 works. www.telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2025...

So is Canada a #petrostate, doomed to be a long run rustbelt, or an #electrostate rising into the future? Maybe it's a choice between two states of mind, vision, planning & governance. Can we go our own "Norway"? See our essay, p73 of the global DDP report. ddpinitiative.org/wp-content/u...

So yes, you can support institutional neutrality AND support divestment from Apartheid South Africa, precisely because partnering with institutions with values contrary to academic principles is both contrary to AND IRRELEVANT TO institutional neutrality.

Canada has seen a similar trend in vehicle fleet composition, but I do not think we have had the same trend in pedestrian deaths

William Ivor Castle's series showing Canadians "going over the top" turns 109 this month!

I love seeing variants of this image in different collections. But what does that mean?

If I see you posting AI slop, it's an instant block. Even if you think it's cute or says a lot about society. If you are purporting that some AI slop is real news, I will report you for misinformation, and then block you. Sloppers should be marginalised.

Oh yeah, 90s Mariners were also the Kingdome which I had never been to (but another 90s Seattle staple, Almost Live, left me a lasting impression)!

Going to Safeco on Canada Day with @risingaction.bsky.social and his dad in 2007(?) was quite the experience. The Jays fans outnumbered the Mariners fans!

I grew up in Surrey near the US border. We got Mariner games from Seattle TV and Jays games from cable.

I became a Jays fan because they won back to back world series in my formative years

Kids a few years younger became Mariners fans because they were really good (Ichiro!) in the late 1990s

I will forever find the idea that you can't find equally qualified (maybe even more qualified) people for half the price in pretty much any of these positions, such as CEOs for state agencies, university presidents, etc. etc. etc., to be total bullshit. Overpaid and unjustifiably so.
