I feel weird being nitpicky about this because it’s still terrible and wrong that she was detained, but the WGN employee who was grabbed by ICE is not a journalist? Any media employee =/= journalist and I think the accuracy is important just so we don’t get accused of misinformation.

My hand palm up with fingers curled in to reveal my translucent black manicure is rubbed off the tips of my pinky, ring, and middle fingers revealing my natural nails underneath.

I thought last week was impressive, but last night was truly a feat! Emily has done incredible work here and I hope others will step up to help with organizing.

Made new friends, saw @jessrock.bsky.social and @jwolfe73.bsky.social and @veryimportant.lawyer and it was a perfect night.

A ball of puffy inflated letters forming five words. Each word is a different color for legibility purposes and streams of color are running out of the letters onto those below and dripping off the roughly spherical mass. The entire thing reads ‘Maybe it will happen today’.

Seems like the amount of misinfo happening regarding events in Chicago is ramping up, even if it's just confusion about when or where exactly things happened, and even if it's shared with good intentions. We gotta be vigilant and check the source, everybody.

I replied to someone else today trying to correct
@unraveledpress.com (of all people!) saying that the pastor getting shot by a pepper ball at Broadview was recent. That person also didn't seem to be from Chicagoland yet was very sure they were more correct than local journalists on the ground.

Yes we are mobilizing to protect parents and families on their way to and from school because of course I wouldn't put it past these jagoffs, but it's also bad for kids to be held out of school and miss education (and being fed!) if it's based on inaccurate videos going viral.

It hurts nothing and no one to wait and verify. I know we're all scared. I'm scared. This is my community, my neighbors, and I want to protect them. But sharing misinformation is not helpful. To date no one in a school pickup/dropoff line has been abducted.
