I like houseplants and ceramics. There will be cat pictures and typos.
Pinned
I'm dragging this photo over from the other place and pinning it here since it makes me laugh. This is from my morning commute on the CTA Blue Line in February 2020. My first sign that things were going to get really weird, really quickly, and stay that way.

Whoever manages to breed this cat would never have to work again
They should invent a cat that barfs in the litter box.

My ten year old nephew just said his dad was bought off of Temu.

Yet another article outlining the cruelty of the xenophobic monsters we've not so quietly feed for years and have finally and allowed to consume us.
“Many of the deportees are past retirement age and had lived in the U.S. for decades, which presents unique challenges for the shelter”

I've been playing with my sewing machine the past couple of days and made this bag with a collection of my late grandmother's material scraps. Cat in background for scale.

I am an absolute terrible cook, and even I know very bad things will happen if you try and bake a cake for three hours.
NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

I had a roommate who slept on an air-mattress the entire time I lived with her.
Bitch what the fuck?!

I am going to buy so much cheese today.

I am grateful that green bean casserole was never part of Thanksgiving until my sister married into a family who thought it was sacred and bought into their bullshit, so it can go. Sadly, mac and cheese has never been part of our Thanksgiving, but that's just our personal familial failing.
with charity and goodwill, i must here part ways with rolls.

Just ate my leftover quesadilla I ordered from Taco Max while riding the Montrose bus last night. Now what?

Logging off to go dust my homemade rustic pottery, you monster.
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

They should put "51 rats fighting in a dumpster" on the "Welcome to Chicago" signs, save money on updating them every time there's a new mayor

It's been a while since I've been out to brunch and was missing a good egg sandwich on toasted sourdough bread with sharp cheddar cheese until I realized I had all the ingredients and the problem here was me. The egg sandwich I just ate was delicious, doubly so since I ate it while still in my pjs.

The CTA holiday train is a delight, whenever I get a chance to ride it, it's a treat.
Colleagues and I were just talking about this: The CTA holiday train is the purest experience of joy in the city. -No one- is so jaded that they don’t light up when they see it. Commuters get genuinely excited. People smile and laugh and text pictures to their friends. It’s a delight.
Non-Chicagoans don't realize how fun it is to see the Holiday Train pulling into the station. A little jolt of joy gives you a lift.

Nothing like some dumb family drama five days before Thanksgiving that makes me want to just say fuck it and go to White Castle
