Most people running for Cook County judge seats in March are currently attorneys. Do you have experience working with them? Inform our next judicial election guide by sending your tips!
As we work on our next judicial election guide, we want to hear from you: What should voters know about these attorneys and judges? If you recognize any of these names, send us your tips. buff.ly/DlOqYRA

there's that now-famous internet line about how climate change means watching clips of climate disasters on people's phones until you're the one filming it, and it feels like there's some parallel about watching fascist deportation goon squad videos until it's filmed on the streets you recognize

It’s about to be Giving Tuesday and I’m still $500 off of my giving goal for 2025. Which NPOs do you love to support with your time and/or money?

Dart still wildly expanding his budget and staff even as he’s no longer responsible for electronic montitoring, the jail population is down 40% (!), and division 4 is getting demoed (one of the nasty 70s buildings with HVAC problems from day 1).

At Awesome Foundation, we had grantees who made a community Ofrenda in their flower shop and invited folks in to celebrate their loved ones, and with last months grantee teaching folks in Englewood to skateboard and working to make a skatepark there. Thanks to @beermiscuous.bsky.social for hosting!

Brandon Johnson pledged not to reduce the Chicago police budget that after 6 years has complied with less than 25% of the consent decree, which has no control over their overtime budget, and who refuse to fire police officers who's misconduct costs us hundreds of millions.
Anyone who lives in a dem run city where the cops do to non whites what ICE has been doing to non whites understands this perfectly. And also gives if them more and more of the budget to do so.
It’s far removed from what the rank and file want but it is what it is
always remember that the median elected Dem thinks ICE is peachy-keen and just wants them to do what they're doing politely and unobtrusively

they hate the part that looks like the SS storming somebody's house but they like the SS disappearing the untermenschen

if you live here, you should be able to vote here
Noncitizen voting in local elections was common during the 18th and parts of the 19th centuries and some municipalities in the U.S. have revived the practice. New York City passed a law permitting it, but this year it was struck down.
Ahead of Mayor Race, Noncitizen New Yorkers Grapple with a Voting Policy Failure to Launch
For a brief moment, it seemed some noncitizen New Yorkers may gain the right to vote locally. But with the law struck down earlier this year, they remain at the margins.

It's my favorite recently invented holiday! I love getting friends to share who they've been working with all year that folks might not realize and to advocate for folks to make a plan to give money away instead of doing it randomly or not at all.

Folks, Giving Tuesday is around the corner and this is my yearly PSA that while you may be annoyed with nonprofits raising money that day, please be kind especially this year. It's been BRUTAL trying to raise money in 2025.

Judge Ellis also found that a top CBP leader's testimony was not credible, in part because he admitted that was relying on unreliable "use of force" reports generated by DHS officers — and in a footnote, says video showed an officer asking ChatGPT to help him fill out a use of force report!
