I ran Redact again last night. It's automated so it deletes vast swaths of posts in a certain date range, but it's not consistent. So if it looks like I have not posted about XYZ issue, I probably actually have but for my IRL safety, I tend to scrub my feed frequently.

Turns out that therapist insta-terminated the second I had left the zoom. I had not even decided yet if I would terminate ... that's not someone interested in your care. That's someone interested in your COMPLIANCE.

Thank you! I hope she has openings soon. She also does somatic and walk-and-talk and I think walk & talk could be good for me. Walks always help me and I know they do the contralateral stimulation ...

Also just knowing she trained with Jamie Marich so she understands systems/dissociation--yay!

Therapist responses attempting to minimize, explain away, pretend this isn't real, gaslight, blame etc will result in 1. detaching from thread and 2. a block.

Believing you can't cause harm, coupled with power, is a dangerous combination. Now combine that with how many therapists have not worked through their own shit ... and even attempt to work it out ON their clients. Yikes.

In fact, I would argue that a therapist making such claims is a huge red flag and you should be cautious. The two who were pretty harmful for me recently both went on & on about they were just uniquely safe/non harmful/ethical etc.

In my experience, it is a red flag when a therapist goes on about how they are different -- more ethical or somehow uniquely able to avoid causing harm (ugh no). This resource by Natalie Russ at the Therapy Harm Resistance Project explains why SO well:

Wanna know what he HAS done? He has RE-activated portal access, which he previously revoked instantly and without any communication when he blew up at me in there ... This guy is worse than I thought. This is not what ethical therapists do. This is not even mature, adult behavior.

Not even a reply from that therapist confirming appointments canceled, apologizing for plowing over my consent, violating an agreement about something, gaslighting me etc. Like I asked how to revoke an ROI and he can't even reply to that.

I appreciate the person who reached out to me and said they had been holding back for a long that this therapist was causing me harm. I did not realize in some stories I had shared, that they saw red flags. Interesting.

I don't know what to make of it but it's sad.

I started therapy with that therapist the day after David Lynch died ... and the therapist wrecked the relationship with rage and gaslighting right after Diane Keaton died. Weird end caps.

The 15 year old girl who was dragged from her car by ICE had recently had kidney surgery.

She was thrown to the ground despite screaming “I’m not resisting”

She had to return to the hospital.

These aggressive tactics will disable. They will kill.

They must be held accountable.

Thank you. I did find an EMDR and somatic therapist the other day who trained with Jamie Marich (!!!), so she will know how to handle dissociation. I had wanted to add a second modality (insurance allows it), but ... I guess I will see her & see if that could work as a sole modality for now.

and then Greg (brother) etc etc had a lot of death in my life. First love died from heroin in 2000 (we were 25) over and over rinse repeat

another reason we tried so hard to raise for the disaster & other damage ... it just keeps getting more expensive ... we are at risk of not having running water but the pipe issue went from $2000 to over $8000 (exact same repair) in just a few years. Also many other issues ...

Last two days before checking in at the surgery center that I can eat a normal diet. I have to taper off everything delicious and healthy for about 5 days ... That is gonna be hard, but I can do it.

I did not say all that, btw, to jump on the question. I was trying to explain why I don't know, but I truly have wondered about it ... I know having that constant presence has set me apart in some ways from others my age so I get curious about their experiences and things like this.

A really interesting question ... unfortunately death was a constant presence in my life starting very young because of the cancer mutation, Jimmy (my brother), then friends early on in 20s and disability community so I don't know,

BUT regardless, I have often wondered about this for others.
