One sheet for documentary film "Heightened Scrutiny." An upside down supreme court building hangs guillotine-like above the thumbnails of filmmaker Sam Feder and the guest speakers Lilly Wachowski (me,) Crispin Torres, Mickey R Mahoney and AllienSteve Mullen.

One of my main criticisms of Lady for a Duke was how weird it is to have just one trans woman completely by herself who doesn't know any other trans women. Like, us finding each other and forming comminities of practice is something we've been doing since the dawn of written history

Watching Veneno and seeing all of the dozens of trans women in that show genuinely fixed so many of my brainworms wrt appearance/passing.

it would probably be sorta hard for just anyone to do it *this well* because it requires you to actually be normal about trans people, but still it feels important to state for the record that WE ARE NOT HARD TO STAND UP FOR AND ANY OF THEM COULD DO IT.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

It simply should not be possible for the president to repeatedly claim that a major city is burning without a wall of live standups happening in that city clearly demonstrating that it is not

American broadcast journalism has utterly failed and is a dead industry, there's nothing left worth saving

This is the way. Like, this is the only way forward. This is what we need from leaders. It's not purity testing to demand this level of active, affirmative support.

This should be basic among Dems seeking to hold office.

“I’m worried about my community… I’m out here in a frog costume to show how ridiculous the notion that we’re violent terrorists is, and showcase how that narrative is wrong…”

Serious Q: is it too late to give this dude the Nobel Peace Prize? 🐸 🏆

A rarely discussed benefit of strong social supports for the unemployed (including but not limited to universal basic income) is that capital is less able to chill your speech or push you to compromise your ethics. Why? Because if your boss tries to push you that way, you can leave more readily

The elder Trans woman who named herself Tifa and is called Aunt Tifa for real is the strongest.

somewhere out there is an elder trans woman who changed her name to Fa and all of her friends call her Auntie Fa and she is so powerful

No, i also have very little interest in assaulting a random service worker for refusing me entry into a bar because of my own fuck up. It seems strange to even suggest that

Starting to wonder if I'm the only semi-prominent transfem voice actress without an agent/representation.

Really need to figure that whole side of things out at some point.

I think it is important for people to understand that the UK in 2025 is more transphobic now than they were in 1394 (700 years ago) when they arrested and subsequently released Eleanor Rykener in a similar case as this one en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John/El...
