Apologies to mutuals from Twitter if I haven't followed you back. The influx from Twitter has lead to a lot of new followers and it's very hard to keep track.

I'll hopefully get to you eventually.

Perfect posting from Tim Heidecker, 24 hours apart.
What an incredible experience, getting to perform at the Riyadh Comedy Festival. I left feeling grateful and humbled by his majesty's generosity. I'll never forget this memorial experience and all the fun we had. Hope to do it again soon. upon further reflection, there is a small part of me that feels I sent the wrong message, regarding the Riyahd Comedy Festival last night. While, I do think it's important for comedy to have the opportunity to thrive in all parts of the globe, there are some aspects of The Royal Highness, King Salmon and his leadership in the region that i don't agree with entirely, but it's a different culture when it comes to freedom and rights and I gotta respect that we are all different and have different values. My manager is now investigating the possibility of donating some of my fee to a charity for Vetrans of War.

I was going to joke that this was them Salazar-ing Starmer but then I remembered McSweeney has already boasted he's done that.

So Labour are, after 18 months in office, choosing to repeat implications the PM is a puppet.

Lol at "Praetorian Guard", but what's really amazing is that they're still using the "grown-ups back in charge" line. These people aren't simply dim - they are incapable of original thought.

But Elledge does control what he writes in his own posts.

And the post he chose to write was a repeat of the clickbait headline. Even though he knew it was misleading given he made his immediate followup post a get out of jail free card.

October! Spooky fundraiser!

As we made last month's extreme goal (thank you, thank you,) we're caught up on bills and fees!

That means we can set a slightly more reasonable goal: 2500!

Art theme: Abstract Animals!

Paypal in bio, if you're European: bank info in the DMs!

Jonn Elledge is not allowed to criticise or disagree with me or it is a hate crime.
lamentablyawake.bsky.social
Jonn Elledge knows he's a very good and nice person, so it's totally ok for him to trick and then shout abuse at people vastly less powerful than him.

"I was very clearly aware I was baiting people, to the extent I gave myself a get out of jail card in the next post, this shows you to be utterly in the wrong and deserving of abuse."

Reminder that followup posts in a thread aren't shown if a post is reposted.

But more pertinently, this is a useful reminder that as much as pundits say "I don't choose the headline" they're very happy to use the equivalent of bait and switch headlines and then be extremely nasty about it.

LITERALLY THE NEXT POST IN THE THREAD SENT LESS THAN A MINUTE LATER. I KNOW THERE'S A MISLEADING HEADLINE AND A PAYWALL BUT HAVE YOU ALSO HAD A DEBILITATING ACCIDENT THAT PREVENTS YOU FROM SCROLLING DOWN AND READING THE SECOND POST IN A THREAD, LIKE WHAT'S THE DEAL HERE

Before you all yell at me, my answer can be summed up as "fuck, no".

To an extent I get why people are so snotty about people quoting Andor instead of theory IRT the current situation.

But it's a big mistake to dismiss how inspiring and relevant something like the episode "One Way Out" is. The response to Andor quoting should be "Yes and..." not mockery.

A guy who was head of a testing department and who was sent back to Germany after 5 years?

That's the closest equivalent you can think of Von Braun? Apel was back in Germany in 1952, Von Braun wasn't appointed head of NASA until 1960.

Genuinely one of the biggest distractions for me in Tomb Raider 2013 was that Lara didn't wear a coat through the whole game.

Now that obviously speaks to it being a very good game that something so small bothered me.

But everyone else was wearing a coat, couldn't she have picked one up?

Like 60% of consumer spending in the USA is done by the top 10% income bracket. There are hundreds of millions of people who are increasingly becoming dead weight, as far as that 10% are concerned.

Jacob Gellar's video on Nuremburg is very good for lots of reasons but I've found it especially useful how he points out that Nazis, including Adolf Eichmann, claimed they were just small cogs in the Nazi machine and they had no control or real power over what happened.

A small number of demonstrators attempted to protest/march in the street.

Massive number of ISP troopers in riot gear responded by blocking 25th, threatening arrest, shouting into megaphone about an unlawful assembly.

One could be a lot nastier in response to this but, if nothing else, it's striking that she chooses to be snide towards Polanski when he has been for more respectful and polite to her than any of the Your Party MPs.

Great discussion at TWT on how the left must unite — Your Party and the Greens — to keep Farage out of Downing Street.

But unity isn’t uniformity. Your Party will be truly anti-imperialist: no diplomatic ties with a genocidal, apartheid Israeli state and no greenwashing NATO.

Seems foolish to be snide about the Greens. Not just because it's a way better run party but also, where do you intend to land when Adnan Hussein kicks you out of the party?

Workers Party UK??

Remember when sensibles on the British left wanted to deplatform The Canary and people decided it was unconscionable to share their stuff?? Turns out that was part of Morgan McSweeney's plan to undermine us and it worked 🙃

A big part of why Libs are reduced to saying "Trump can't do [thing he is currently doing] it's illegal!"

Is because they've dismissed anything that would hold the powerful to account as "populism"/student politics.

I.E. it would hold *them* to account too and they won't have that.

Seeing Ms. Rachel say exactly what needs to be said to Obama is so damn refreshing
Dear President Obama,
I saw in your statement you said "Israeli families" & "the people of Gaza."
Palestinians have families, too.
This kind of language contributes to dehumanization. Dehumanization is part of what caused so many to stay silent as 20,000 children were killed in this genocide.
I've sat with wonderful Palestinian families from Gaza. They look at their children just like we look at ours - with all the love & hope in the world.
Love,
Ms Rachel

I dunno man, it's pretty weird when there's so many people out there openly supporting a genocide you'd be annoyed with someone for opposing the genocide in the "wrong" way.
