…and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone.

You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.”

I think of this passage a lot when the Phils rip our hearts from our chests:

“It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings…

Absolutely correct.

THANK YOU for writing this.

This was a series that was decided by a handful of moments, argues Inquirer columnist David Murphy, all or any one of which could have easily broken in a different direction. The Phillies lost too many of those moments. Kerkering’s was simply the last. (1/3)

Tyler Glasnow is done after six innings. He limited the Phillies to just two hits. He did walk three, but struck out eight. Phillies will try their luck against Emmet Sheehan.

But! I’m glad he pulled up to keep the ball in front of him instead of trying to dive and giving the Dodgers extra bases and some momentum.

Marsh is also borderline gold glove caliber defensively in LF. Even though he’s pretty quick, he just doesn’t get a good read on the ball when he’s in CF.

On that ball that was between him and Trea, he probably would have caught it if he didn’t stutter step off the bat.

But also…an MLB player shouldn’t put themselves in that position, especially in the postseason.
