If you were an admin or member of one of the Facebook groups that the DOJ jawboned Facebook into censoring, we want to talk to you!

Today following outreach from @thejusticedept, Facebook removed a
large group page that was being used to dox and target
@lCEgov
in Chicago.
The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and
social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing
their jobs. The Departrnent of Justice will continue engaging tech
companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent
violence against federal law enforcernent.

My reaction to this was “is Francis really the most Italian saint?” and it turns out he is.

(He’s so central to my spirituality that I would hate to have his day become Italian American cultural day, like St Pat’s, but I can accept your ironclad reasoning)

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

Father Larry attempts to walk toward the detention center.

ISP prevent people from moving forward. Lieutenant Col Bradley says he's making a call and dialing the ICE facility, but also says people may be waiting a while.

As the procession reaches Broadview, priests have been denied access to ICE detention facility in order to bring the Eucharist to detainees.

“One of the chants that has become ubiquitous at these protests at Broadview is, ‘Love your neighbor, love your God, save your soul and quit your job,’” said Black, who pastors at the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago. “Everybody chants that.”
I agree how bad and dangerous this is

But it’s not “crossing the Rubicon” because public institutions are *not* certain to hold Trump to account

When Caesar crossed the Rubicon with his armed forces, he knew he must conquer or be put to death as a traitor. We had no Rubicon, only capitulation

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Right wing conspiracy theory: the economy and government are controlled by Jewish lizards

Left wing conspiracy theory: the Feds are targeting my 7-person anarchist party. (Probably true)

Liberal elite conspiracy theory: they’re making the seltzer less fizzy
(Tbc even if that’s true, I support vandalizing anything a”i“ related)

NEW: Rachel Maddow drops unseen bodycam footage of feds coordinating the arrest of Newark Mayor Baraka.

I REPEAT: the feds ordered his arrest even though he wasn’t breaking any laws.

Federal agent: “We are arresting the mayor right now per the Deputy Attorney General of the United States.”
My partner’s theory is these ads with plenty of white space are meant to be vandalized to get us to post photos. Viral marketing from a company whose ceo tweets out the awful reviews their product gets

Speaking as a practicing Catholic here we desperately need to criminalize my religion. Kamala Harris please close the churches like they promised me you would.
Posting an unrelated greeting under a joke tweet might be the most boomer coded thing I’ve done in months
Also really excited to see you!
Thank you for your service

Now a good journalist or anthropologist can be expected to speak of “Christianities” or contested claims within and among communities.

But Christians who are disgusted by Kirk hagiography can’t blame lazy journalism and call it a day. We have to contest the claims inside and outside the churches
Normatively speaking, Charlie Kirk is is closer to an antichrist than to “the apostle Paul” as Dolan would have him. As a Christian I will say that with authority.

But descriptively—as a journalist or ethnographer must see—Kirk is arguably the consummate Christian.
A journalist who is not personally embedded in a Christian community would reasonably look at the public response of American Christian churches across the board and see a mixture of praise for Kirk’s Christian witness and relative silence
