You don't have to be sure. If you get a bad feeling, stay away from them.
You're doing no harm by choosing not to be around sus people. You don't need to have a trial, you don't need to have overwhelming evidence.

If someone is advocating for doing high risk activities, esp if it's someone you're new to, STAY AWAY from that person.
