If the Cubs win tonight that will lock in my support for the American League team in the World Series, without regard to which team that is.

- If we hadn’t run him into the ground perhaps he’d have been better in his final two outings, but we had to run him into the ground to get to where we were and that’s a Harris problem.

The fact that Finnegan was gassed in the first place was a Harris problem; It happened because earlier in the post season A.J. was turning to him to get 6, 7 outs in the fourth inning because he one of the only reliable arms in the pen -

That they had literally half their bullpen fully well rested and available after 14 innings but had Jack Flaherty on the mound instead is a Harris problem.

Kyle Finnegan’s partial season as a Tiger was great, but it absolutely would’ve been preferable to turn to someone else in the 7th because he clearly needed more rest but there was also nobody else to turn to & that’s a Harris problem. That they turned to Melton on one day rest is a Harris problem.

Lot of people seem angry about Skubal not pitching the 7th last night seem to have forgotten what happened in Game 5 of the ALDS last year. He was great in that game too until he wasn’t. This one wasn’t on Hinch taking him out too early, it’s on Harris giving him little to turn to.

I don’t even think it’s reasonable to assume that the Tigers would’ve won if Skubal stayed in, that sounds like fan-brain trying to justify a loss. Last year we also lost Game 5 of the ALDS, and a big part of that story was that we left Skubal in for one batter too long. Sometimes you just lose.

Very similar. I think we have the core of a very good team, but even in June when we had the best record in the league I thought “This doesn’t look like a best in MLB roster but they keep winning so I won’t question it”. There’s a lot of work to do to build an early 2010s caliber roster.

I was emotionally invested in the Leyland/Dombrowski era Tigers teams: much less so this 2025 team, which was neat, streaky, and had the comedic timing of a Ron White story. Four stars, will watch again. Extend Tarik Skubal and Jason Benetti

This explains his lack of power down the stretch.

Gleyber Torres played with a hernia. Surgery soon.

For me it’s a one-two punch of college football in general seems to be doing everything it can to kill what makes the sport great *AND* MSU seems not to be doing much to swim with the new tide. I have been through bad eras of MSU football before, but my fan effort has never been lower than now.

Yep, I can put it right here, whereupon I will recount Game 7 of the 2001 World Series, Game 6 of the 1986 NLCS, Game 7 of the 2016 World Series (which featured one team with a longer World Series drought & TWO with a longer championship drought), Game 5 of the 2015 ALDS between Toronto & Texas, etc

That was the first time the Tigers played a 15 inning game since August 9, 2016, when they lost to the Seattle Mariners in Seattle in the 15th inning.

Dan Dickerson saying "Fuck this game recap" on a hot mic after the first commercial break following the game is all of us right now. lol

Unbelievably, the season will continue on for at least one more batter.

lol, the Tigers season comes down to Tommy Kahnle vs Cal Raleigh. Wow.

We’ve screwed up trade so badly we can’t even export an ALCS team to Canada.

Fourteen innings means it's time to get creative 😅

14 innings!!!

This is the longest winner-take-all game by innings in postseason history

This game is less stressful than Game 163 against the Twins in 2009 but that has more to do with my current age and my current assessment of the Tigers roster. However, it is quite nerve-wracking.

"Threatened But Do Not Score" has been the Detroit Tigers team motto since roughly the second week of August (except in Yankee Stadium).

Maybe these guys just really hate going through customs.

And when he doesn't answer the call goes out to Wilfredo Ledezma. Surely his Rule 5 rights still apply?

Jack Flaherty may turn out to be the hero you want.

I will agree with you if the Tigers win. If the Mariners win I will go deep into my Rolodex to present all of the exhibits and evidence as to why this opinion is ridiculous.
