Jack Flaherty may turn out to be the hero you want.

I will agree with you if the Tigers win. If the Mariners win I will go deep into my Rolodex to present all of the exhibits and evidence as to why this opinion is ridiculous.

They did go well out of their way to try to stop it from happening in the regular season.

I cannot believe we made it out of that inning.

I got very little sleep last night and I just want to sleep but the Detroit Tigers are not allowing me to sleep.

This is the game that never ends, it just goes on and on my friends. Some people started playing it, not knowing what it was, and they will keep on playing it forever just because… This is the game that never ends. ⚾️🎶🎵. #Mariners #Tigers #MLB

Clutch performance by Will Vest. #Tigers

I use this space to regularly heap grief on MLB bullpens

But a standing ovation to Will Vest for pitching out of no-out, man on third jam after an error helped put the leadoff hitter there, while protecting a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth on the road

Hopefully the Tigers do not fumble as they did with peak Scherzer.

Skubal finished with a 0.8908 WHIP on the season, good for 56th ALL TIME, a career best, and his third season in a row with sub-1.000 WHIP. Insane. This is peak Kershaw and Sherzer territory.

How many times are the #Tigers going to let opposing pitchers off the hook with the bases loaded and less than two outs in September? Stop trying to hit a 42-run homer and put the damn ball in play somewhere. The strikeouts are killing me.

In the old days, you'd occasionally run into somebody totally normal who had one utterly insane belief, like a co-worker who just causally says he thinks the sun is alive. Social media is like if we extracted all of those individual bits of madness, cooked them into a stew and ate it for every meal.

Liberals mock the term a lot, but “do something” doesn’t and has never meant “do a thing, and then stop.” Great, Schumer “did something.” He can’t do that thing anymore. So what’s he doing next? I think this is a reasonable question to ask the people who represent us in government.

Three seasons but “The Life and Times of Tim”

Everyone has a 1-2 season TV show they sorely miss and not enough people knew about that you are always praising the heavens about.

What's yours?

Sure seems like Big Pharma spent way way more energy, money and lobbying capital on fighting Dems on prescription drugs than doing anything about the Secretary of HHS casually, and without any real evidence, telling everyone their products kill kids and give them autism.

Was meant to be a hit song within the story of a video game, not a movie, but same basic premise and 20 years later it still goes:

People denounced the prequel trilogy for chancellor palpetine’s fascist turn having the subtlety of a brick to the head but after the last 20 years I need to extend my sincerest apologies to mister Lucas for ever doubting his prescient wisdom

Considering that technically the people doing this in America now are just descended from the Confederacy this couldn't be more true or accurate. It's "just" the same enemies from 160 years ago continuing the fight.

speaking from the perspective of someone from a country who went through a military dictatorship: those people will be your enemies forever and will never stop trying to bring it back, they will do their best and their worst to ruin everything you love

do not compromise and never trust them

i find this image so fascinating. it is both a literal example of authoritarianism but also a second-hand reproduction of the aesthetics of other authoritarian states. it's like a simulacra of authoritarianism whose purpose is to attempt to make the simulacra real.

This is a real photograph of Washington, DC this week, where the United States president has ordered military occupation in peacetime, and ordered the display of colossal portraits of himself.

“No we won’t perform a medical procedure you requested because fuck you that’s why” was pretty radicalizing for me I’d say.

I’ve been pro-choice my whole life, but it was a very low salience issue to me until my child’s mother wanted to get her tubes tied following her c-section procedure when our daughter was born and because it was a Catholic hospital they were just like “lol no we don’t believe in that”.

It just amazes me that we gave ourselves this option and people willfully do it the hard way. I’m reasonably certain that I cast my ballot for Kamala Harris before Canadian Thanksgiving.

We just put (optional) mail-in voting in the state constitution in 2018 here in Michigan and nit only have I not seen a voting booth since, but it strikes me as absurd that

a) It was ever any different

b) Some people HERE still wait until Election Day, go to a building, wait in line, and vote.
