“having to mask made me go fash” is so common and it’s just baffling

I mean, yes, it was annoying to wear one all the time? it also wasn’t that big a deal? if, today, someone asks me to put a mask on I go “ok” and put one on

and yet so many people treat it as a life-ruining imposition
The reason this Harvard history professor decided he was done with one of the best and most privileged jobs in the world was, in his own words, because he was forced to lecture in a mask during peak Covid.

I’m not making this up.

It’s not just unfair to me as a trans woman, it’s unfair to me as a teacher if every single student has a heckler’s veto over every lecture, discussion section, and assignment. The incentive structure you’re creating is for everyone to submit “MAGA” written in crayon and dare me not to give As.

The #1 movie on my 10th birthday was Silence of the Lambs, so things aren’t looking up!
The #1 movie when you were 10 years old is how your 2026 is going to go.

Hey, at least I meet someone.

God this is so depressing given the political response to it

Oversight Dems have launched the Immigration Enforcement Dashboard to record possible misconduct during immigration operations by the Trump Administration.

It archives harmful actions against U.S. citizens and immigrants nationwide so we can hold this Administration accountable.

All of the trouble in Newark last night was worth it to see the Red Wings win at Madison Square Garden tonight.

Shout out to Palace Fried Chicken for being open.
If I have to pay a toll and pay parking to go into New York City to find some food at 10 o clock on Saturday I will curse the city of Newark for the remainder of my days.

The hotel bar is hosting a party so apparently they can’t make me food. Every restaurant around here appears to be a Brazilian restaurant. Every restaurant, including bars, that’s not a Brazilian restaurant apparently closes at 10 o clock on a Saturday night for some reason.

Sen Gary Peters is in his own way the biggest embarrassment of the lot. He’s been a leader of Team Cave and he’s retiring. So there’s no politics or risk aversion. He wants to cave as a matter of genuine principle.

Democratic party leadership has been on autopilot for ten years, they weren't losing to fascism, fascism isn't popular enough for them to lose to fascism, they were allowing it to fill the void where their leadership should have been. Tonight we're seeing that we have other options. They should too.

in baseball you can’t just “get the ball” to your best player, you have to send up the batter whose turn it is and hope they come through. and sometimes they do! I think that’s rad

Are they allowing Scherzer to pitch with the bases loaded because they're afraid of him, personally?

Scherzer has been getting hit hard and Ohtani has zero command but three half-innings in and nobody's given up any runs.
