On Saints Row we had a debug npc named Skinballs (lol) that was literally just four spheres wrapped in different shades of skin texture so we could test lighting for different skin tones during development. But teams need to plan for that kind of testing with intentionality, and not enough do.

Me: The pearl paper is very arts and crafts feel and barely any corporation would use that…
Colleague: Really? I saw quite a few though *pulls out matte laminated name cards as example*

Anyway I’m happy with my new soft touch finish, embossed+spot UV varnished logo, beautiful and professional looking name card and everyone’s actually excited to give out their name cards now lmao (esp me)

and converted them into vectors so they actually look crisp in print), RGB colour profile, homemade “I love arts and crafts” 180gsm PEARL paper, ugly fonts and colours…

They wanted to use that old design and drawings and just swap the logos and I just couldn’t continue there if we did that

I can’t show either for privacy, but the old one was so bad… jpg image no vectors even for the logo, bootleg looking anime drawings to represent the staff (I didn’t want to put drawings in the new design but manager insisted on chibis cos they “are memorable” so I drew more corporate looking ones

← Person who couldn’t stand the idea of continuing to use my current workplace’s ugly, tacky ass, cheap looking name card design and took our rebranding as an opportunity and designed new name cards for everyone, proposed it to JP HQ and got it made with embossing and UV varnish while being cheaper

They are also intentionally conflating machine-learning and generative AI slop to confuse and try to make GenAI seem necessary. Google Maps traffic stuff is machine learning, not GenAI, for example. Auto-correct is too. Don't let them make you lose the thread. GenAI slop is slop.
