This is Spooky, my gorgeaously adorable rescue cat. He is lying on the floor on his side, fluffy tummy to the camera, one back leg stretcching out, the other curled in and pulled upwards. Front paws are curled in tucked into himself, under his face, in a gorgeous little-m shape. His eyes are closed serenly and his chin is also tuked into him.

It’s not a matter of pulling themselves up by their bootstraps

It’s corporate greed. It’s companies refusing to pay a living wage. It’s a high cost of living in a stagnant economy

Did everyone die? Of course not

But many did

Help doesn’t magically arrive just because you need it

Disabled people are often shunned by their family & communities

Remove the supports & people die

Contingency plans go out the window quickly when you have a medical emergency or an extended job loss.

Most people are three months away from homelessness, at best.

You could need SNAP at any time
