He/Him, grew up small town, grown up big city. Educated in theology and politics, which explains why he's really quiet in person. Checks most of the boxes for a progressive with far left sympathies. Striving to be kind. Mostly succeeding.

I don't believe for a second that he's protecting the West Bank. And they're bloody stupid if they think he will.

That said, I do think war fatigue must be kicking in hard for everyone involved.

"[...] you’re living in a tiny apartment. You have to dress your kids in hand-me-downs. There’s a cargo bike involved. Birthday parties are at the park instead of, I guess, some place like Chuck E. Cheese."

Haters gonna hate.

The fact that you don't even begin to hear the word "intersectionality" until you're in some kind of social science graduate program says a lot. And it's a shame because I think it isn't really that complicated.

Belle Isle was one of our stops, beautiful place. We stayed in the hostel in Corktown and loved it. I've basically put down roots in Chicago, but if I wanted to do some kind of urban homestead, Detroit has a lot going for it. Really should get back there.

That was rather silly. Then again, good times (which we didn't realize we had) have a way of making things silly.

And he was a good man who wasn't up to preventing the hell that was coming, perhaps because he didn't fully grasp it.

I have issues with Paul, but I think if you read him right, he's not quite the monster the religious right have proof texted him into being. And anyone who has had to try to organized a community from scratch may relate a lot to his problems.

Paul also is the reason the church has a doctrine of grace. Jesus said you're going to hell with your fucked up society. Paul said you really believe in him, there's a chance.

On reflection, those might not be mutually exclusive.

It's really something seeing rich people trying to buy the aesthetics of endurance born of poverty.

"I can smell a pig from a mile away."

Real criminals don't boast about that sort of thing.

Yeah, a friend of mine reported that this year's Nobel Peace Prize appears to be another dud, which is a shame.

That said, I did read once that the Peace Prize tends to be either sublime or terrible and there isn't really any in between.

And I was just writing a bit about the way rich landowners like to cosplay as cowboys while pissing on their actual legacy...

Grotesque.

And wasn't he like another one of those children of privilege cosplaying as poor?

And I hate that expression but I think it's the label he was aiming at...

EL PASO — a family says ICE showed up at their house looking for migrants and shot and KILLED THEIR DOG, then didn’t help them as the agent ran away and was not identified.

When was the last time he produced any real music? How many years ago?

I'm struggling to find an appropriate ecological metaphor for this. But they're all kinda inappropriate. It's all rather predictable.

And now I realize you meant "Park for free" in Indianapolis, in case which I will step back because it isn't my city.
littlebridgetroll.bsky.social
I should visit Indianapolis sometime. I saw you were from Detroit, my spouse and I vacationed there a year or two ago via Amtrak and that was a fine experience, also eminently bicycle-friendly.
littlebridgetroll.bsky.social
Far as traffic, Chicago has gotten pretty good at bicycle infrastructure and there's a bike path maybe 2-3 miles from my house that goes all the way downtown, though you have to ride over roads to get there.
littlebridgetroll.bsky.social
Growth will do that. I think with Chicago's mind-blowing (to me) scale and density, it'd be harder. I can bike downtown from Rogers Park, but it's about an hour's ride. And the real estate once you get near downtown is rich-people-stuff.

Heels used to be menswear because they were for manly horseback riding. They were for anchoring your feet in stirrups.
