He/Him, grew up small town, grown up big city. Educated in theology and politics, which explains why he's really quiet in person. Checks most of the boxes for a progressive with far left sympathies. Striving to be kind. Mostly succeeding.

Yeah, a friend of mine reported that this year's Nobel Peace Prize appears to be another dud, which is a shame.

That said, I did read once that the Peace Prize tends to be either sublime or terrible and there isn't really any in between.

And I was just writing a bit about the way rich landowners like to cosplay as cowboys while pissing on their actual legacy...

Grotesque.

And wasn't he like another one of those children of privilege cosplaying as poor?

And I hate that expression but I think it's the label he was aiming at...

EL PASO — a family says ICE showed up at their house looking for migrants and shot and KILLED THEIR DOG, then didn’t help them as the agent ran away and was not identified.

When was the last time he produced any real music? How many years ago?

I'm struggling to find an appropriate ecological metaphor for this. But they're all kinda inappropriate. It's all rather predictable.

And now I realize you meant "Park for free" in Indianapolis, in case which I will step back because it isn't my city.
littlebridgetroll.bsky.social
I should visit Indianapolis sometime. I saw you were from Detroit, my spouse and I vacationed there a year or two ago via Amtrak and that was a fine experience, also eminently bicycle-friendly.

Far as traffic, Chicago has gotten pretty good at bicycle infrastructure and there's a bike path maybe 2-3 miles from my house that goes all the way downtown, though you have to ride over roads to get there.
littlebridgetroll.bsky.social
Growth will do that. I think with Chicago's mind-blowing (to me) scale and density, it'd be harder. I can bike downtown from Rogers Park, but it's about an hour's ride. And the real estate once you get near downtown is rich-people-stuff.

Heels used to be menswear because they were for manly horseback riding. They were for anchoring your feet in stirrups.

If you could park for free, there'd be no room for anyone else for all of the free parking.

My advice as a local: if you really want to see downtown, take the train in and walk around. You see more of it that way.

ICE in Portland is coming off like Gargamel getting repeatedly rolled by the Smurfs

No. You can spend a good day in any single museum alone.

But you can catch a lot of the big sights downtown.

Steven Miller is provoking riots.

His slip of the tongue reveals who’s really in charge. trib.al/mIvP0yE

“Illinois governor says we’re provoking actions that are unlawful,” Miller said on CNN. “If I put federal law enforcement and National Guard into a nice sleepy Southern town, is anyone gonna riot?”

Oh yes! I was in dining co-ops in college and people used that stuff.

anyways we know this but tech companies are not only using AI to justify laying workers off and to justify not hiring people. they're also using it to say that their existing human workers must do the work of five humans each

I was on the ground today in Broadview with Senator Durbin to conduct Congressional oversight on ICE’s processing facility.

As elected officials, we have a duty to ensure transparency within federal facilities. What is ICE hiding? Kristi Noem, what are you hiding?
