Today in Portland, a fed shooting pepper balls from the roof of the ICE facility was so eager to aim for people’s heads, that after shooting one photographer in the head and another in the upper arm, they accidentally shot a DHS agent in the head. This photo shows the moment of impact;

Drew Struzan was a massive influence on my illustrative work, especially with portraiture. this one hits hard. his Hellboy illustration tutorial video blew my mind, as did all of his art and still does.

i got my honored citizens bus pass reactivated since i still have a few day passes on there and then got my new debit card from my credit union 🥳 also bought more mucinex. stocked up for the next few days. starting to feel a tad better but still. i know chances are it could dip again.

We lost a lot when movie studios started opting for bad photoshop jobs over painted posters.

Feels timely that we lose one of the greatest living illustrators at a moment in history when oligarchs are trying to outsource creativity to machines.

Magic like Struzan’s is what has kept me going 🙏🙌

Struzan’s work was the first art I saw as a kid that made me feel like I saw a magic trick. Like, I knew it wasn’t a photograph, but I just couldn’t work out exactly how it was a painting, either. A true instance of “how is this possible??”

Even after seeing footage of him working it’s still magic

We’ve lost Drew Struzan. A modern master, who by all accounts was a humble, sweet, loving, dedicated man. His work influenced culture itself, & we’ll be seeing that influence until the end of the modern world. What a legacy. What a body of work. May he rest well, & may his memory be a blessing.

Just heard Drew Struzan passed away 😞 His incredible work has given me and countless others so much awe, joy and inspiration!

I had posters of his work as a teen, I began using color pencils because I thought he used them too. Always inspired by him. Just utterly heart broken.

RIP Drew Struzan.

so it wasn’t until today that another resident told me that we could stay in the shelter during closed hours if we have a doctor‘s note. the staff could clearly tell that i was sick for several days and never mentioned this once, not even during intake.

nearly all the plant-based products we tested had elevated lead levels: vegan powders had 9x as much lead as dairy and 2x as much as beef

though dairy-based powders had the lowest levels, half were still too contaminated for safe daily use

i’m really grateful for all of my roommates. this is a really mellow room with lots of chill pot smoking older folk who like good music and have *lived*. kind folks who understand solidarity and looking out for each other and maintaining our dignity despite the circumstances.
