Bondi: "We've been living through a horrific cycle of political violence in this country ... night after night antifa wrecks havoc on the streets of our cities. In Minnesota, a gunman murdered a state lawmaker and her husband."

Not just that, it's complicated. I think it's more that the inflatables aren't aspirational at all.
loudpenitent.bsky.social
Even if you don't want to wear the inflatable - I don't - don't look down at the noble mascot, they do their part!
loudpenitent.bsky.social
Sure but there's a difference between that and the ridiculous inflatable suits
loudpenitent.bsky.social
People's problem with the inflatable animal costumes is transparently aesthetic - they don't just want to oppose fascism, tneyw want to be cool urban guerilla punks doing it, stylishly throwing hands while performing Protagonist.

Understandable! But sometimes only a clown can destroy a clown.

This video is everywhere because it's a hilarious visual refutation of Portland being on fire. You can't get a mass movement going without convincing the masses

so yes, this does do something actually

This literally does nothing. You are not beating fascism by dressing up in inflatable suits and dancing

Portland is leading the way. This is how you (non violently) beat Fascism. Humor and ridicule are key.

Peasant women, especially, are basically always on the clock.
loudpenitent.bsky.social
It also makes an excellent point: we should not think of peasant families merely as idealized loving households returning to a simpler mold of sincerity, thrift and simple living.

These are effectively mini-factories, with all the attendant pressures & industrial rhythms - including procreation.
loudpenitent.bsky.social
There's a reason so many ancient and premodern societies viewed "idleness" - what we would often call just enjoying life and having time to think and play - as a sin and in many cases one of the more serious ones, and it's not just that they hated joy.

There was SO MUCH work needed doing.

For the tl; can't read folks:

Being a subsistence peasant as an absolute nightmare and especially if you were a woman or doing "women's work," where meeting your "respectability" could be nearly impossible for many households.

This week on the blog: More Peasants!

This week, we're modeling the full(ish) structure of women's labor in a pre-industrial peasant household, very roughly assessing the work required for textiles, farming, cooking, cleaning, childcare, etc.

Now with pie chart!

This is the fifth dish of the fourth course of our series (I, II, IIIa, IIIb, IVa, IVb, IVc, IVd) looking at the lives of pre-modern peasant farmers, who made up a majority of all of the humans who…

MAJOR NEWS: @GavinNewsom signed SB 79, my bill allowing more housing near public transit — rail, subway, rapid bus.

It’s a huge step for housing in California. It’ll create more homes, strengthen our transit systems & reduce traffic & carbon emissions.

Thank you, Governor!

It's not that weird that they fixate on it, because their entire world view requires they transpose American racial conflict into Israel/Palestine to, in their opposing Israel & wanting it purged, absolving themselves of American racism.

It's stupid, but not weird.
