My #ttrpg group is going to start recording our sessions for our Blades in the Dark campaign. I’ll see what I get from the raw footage but I doubt I’ll post it as an actual play since we’re already a couple sessions deep into everything

Every time I teach D&D the first thing I do is rip the book apart by using the table of contents to isolate what you need to actually read. There is a myth that you need to read the whole book to play it and/or run it. The actual rules do not exceed 50 pages and most of that is bloated paragraphs.

For a small but revelatory example of how D&D's market dominance is exploited, I have literally never bought a 5e product. And yet Drivethrurpg insists on showing me "top DM's Guild" products, whereas every other game is expected to compete in cheapest, newest etc.

One of the key failings Hasbro has about D&D and the success of BG3 is they project the idea that tabletop roleplayers are people who 'secretly want' a videogame experience.

But... we already have videogames.

Folks want the tabletop experience. And BG3 succeeded by one specific thing Larian did...

I finally finished Tom Taylor’s run of Nightwing, and I’m a little eh on it? Like I get why it’s so beloved, I too dropped the Nightwing books cause of Ric. But even with the context of the previous runs, I still don’t particularly think it’s all that great, honestly. It’s solid, but that’s it
