Here is a piece I wrote about banned books.

Featuring none of my favourite people - Joey Barton, Rishi Sunak, Bro-normative and his best female-coded-services gal

And some of my favourite things - libraries, dangerous ideas, unthinkable kinks, spanking flamboyance

In a mindless scroll through social media yesterday, due, I hasten to add, to a friend’s indignation rather than my own preferences, I accidentally noticed ex-footballer Joey Barton. Joey Barton, foun...

I lived in an old Karate dojo with King Loser and was the drummer for a while. Happy, loose and frenetic days. Playing music and laughing and drinking. One of my favourite bands.

Wishing you sparks of beauty and joy x

Typical Girls is one of my all-time faves. The whole of Cut is magnificent- on fire and inventive

It's that whole impresario thing too - less successfully tried by Sigue Sigue Sputnik. An impresario (McClaren, Tony Thingy, Tom Saunders etc) is basically making a product collage of what already exists. Artists (Vivian Westwood, The Slits and many others) are making stuff from the ground up.

Just seen a post about Anarchy in the Uk. Pierre and I were coincidentally talking about punk this morning, the interesting cultural stir-ups from that time, a lot of (for me mostly post-punk) music we still love, but in the rear view, Sex Pistols land like Spice Girls.

Wars, tariffs , paper, production costs and the battle to get our books seen means there is a crisis in publishing.

Indies do most of the heavy lifting in finding great new stories that the risk averse conglomerates shy away from.

Support Indies!

Open letter on the future of small press publishing in the UK

Traditionally I dislike Pinterest but as everything online becomes a gaggle of opinions coming out of faces, I’m quite enjoying going back to pictures.

Exquisite things can only be admired from afar

Or pretend-touched with the back of your hand, slowly, like a lady with her mouth open in a perfume ad
luluallison.bsky.social
You’re not meant to join it.

You’d only spoil it.

See? Dead.

No one is communicating anything useful with the exquisite.

Useful things NEED to be messed, pulled, stretched, caressed.

There’s no way in. No invitation. In fact it is a deliberate barrier.

Exquisism
Exquisiosity
I’ve come to the conclusion that I hate exquisite. It makes things dead.

Just received a spam email from "Dayton Webre" informing me I 'may be eligible for Student-Load-Forgiveness under new 2025 guidelines". At the bottom of the email was the following piece of AI-generated text.
Do LLMs dream of composing that great hard-boiled American novel?
The text reads: "opened the door, and dropped quickly into the tangle hardest ordeal of all There was something weird and what the lads trouble was He could give him some comfort, and your eyes, and count five, laughed Max; now look, and see what I found"

'What more electrifying palace of diversity is there than a well-stocked library?'
Brilliant article from @luluallison.bsky.social about the cowards who are banning books.

I’d love to come - will certainly aim for a London trip.

I think the ratio on here might be more 0.8%, 9.7% and 89.5%

Screen shot of fb memory from 13 years ago:

I've just seen a man who could literally be the love child of John Terry and Dennis Wise. I estimate that 2% of you will be delighted by that prospect, 17% utterly horrified and 81% will neither know nor care what l'm on about.

I know. I can’t bear it. Though at least it might mean the chipper copper stays away

Fuckenada if the Archers doesn’t eventually reward me with Chris and Alice getting back together I’m going to be very pissed off. I’ve put up with too much George and what’s her face to go quietly …
