this is not a walkable, affordable, livable, or climate adaptive future

but rather one that focuses most density on the most toxic and unlivable streets.

and no. EVs don't solve this. it's a geometry problem. not an engine problem.

i'm sorry but this is not a future that prioritizes affordable housing and climate - it's a future that prioritizes cars

look at all those paved surfaces. want to cross the street to get to a restaurant? hold on we've got an 8-lane stroad for you to cross.

'grand boulevard' from the cascadia innovation report - showing midrise buildings adjacent a massive road w/ 6 car lanes, plus 2-lanes of transit in the middle of the road.

The article also includes a map I made of all data centers and natural gas power plants in California, including emissions from those plants.

Some gas power companies that see profit in the AI boom say they can capture their carbon emissions, and deserve clean electricity credits from the state.

Today is my last day at Blizzard! Working with the World of Warcraft team has been such a fun, positive experience. I can't wait for players to see what we made together. Now I'm looking for my next role in games, full time or contract, indie or AAA. You can check out my portfolio on my website! 🖤

Today I study this lil fella! I was halfway through before I realized I was looking at the back and not the front...

Comes from my previous sketch inside Hoover Dam. Turned it to make a better study. #oseiarts
blue pen sketch of a small forklift, though the front tines are cut off since I couldn't see them in the photo. It doesn't lift very high, because it doesn't seem to have the front array other similar machines have. a zoomed in photo of a small forklift parked in front of a platform, likely something it moves often. It is yellow and black, tines going into the platform.

We need an environmental movement that builds things*

*bollards, concrete barriers, vegetated buffers
A fucking gorgeous bikeway in NYC, paved, separated, bollarded, and bordered by lovely trees and bushes buffering the space between the bike lane and adjacent sidewalk and car road on either side.

I grew up in the foothills outside of Port Angeles, Between the Elwha River spill and the fires I've been having a very specific form of grief for the ecological destruction facing the area where I also once called home.

Sending you and your family much love and support Keezy

First prototype is done. Some tweaks to make but think we cracked it at this scale. Who would be interested in purchasing this as a high quality large scale model?

big thanks to @locusdio.bsky.social who did the dirty work on this!

this is a great summation of how much the mayor watered down the comp
plan
analogist.net
I made an animated gif comparing the best possible zoning map we can implement (Alternative 5) and Mayor Harrell's proposed plan.

In short, Harrell undermined what would have been a transformative housing plan, betraying everyday Seattleites and leaving us with scraps.

Let's take a look at the hilliest neighborhood in Paris—home to Montmartre—and see how their topographical constraints have impacted population density.
Side by side comparison of Queen Anne and the 18th Arrondissement of Paris at the same scale. Queen Anne has an area of 2.8 square miles, a population of 36,000 and a high point of 456 feet. The 18th Arrondissment has an area of 2.3 square miles, a population of 192,000, and a high point of 430 feet.
