This weekend, my mom experienced a stroke, and only my sister is there to help her recover, plus tend both their households and my niblings.

I'm on disability and can't help her much, so I'm lighting the Beacon. If you can, please kick something her way on Paypal $Tiffanybutler0514 . Thank y'all!
Good but exhausting! I need to get the pictures off my actual camera once I’m feeling a bit better (I may have caught a colleague’s Con crud)
Lots of FB friend requests after the weekend’s Con. FB isn’t my open channel, this is. It would be nice if I had an easy option to tell people why I’ve not accepted their request. Ah, well
It’s been a long day but I am safely in Gdansk and have had many lovely pierogi. In even better news, Mum is home from hospital, tired, sore, but otherwise doing remarkably well.
Despite them living 5 miles away and not knowing Mum from Adam. I hope I can track them down to say thank you. They rang Mum’s care company for her and an ambulance, and stayed with her until a carer arrived. So, I’m exhausted and worried but travelling! /end
She actually thought I’d flown already, bless her. As far as we can tell, she fell outside after putting her bin out. She misdialled her care provider once she got inside but the complete strangers on the other end dropped everything to come over and make sure she was alright /3
Further calls this morning tracked her down. She won’t be allowed home until she’s been assessed re: additional home support but the medics assured me she’s fine to go home after that. Mum also insisted before she went in last night that I had to still head off today /2
At the airport after quite an evening. Mum had a fall yesterday and ended up spending the night in A&E. She’s fine, if somewhat shaken and bruised. I called the hospital at 9 pm and midnight, and the registrar called me back at 1:30 am. /1
I am taking way too much stuff. But if I don’t take it, experience tells me that I will need it. Really glad I opted for a checked bag this time
Now all I have to do is pack my hand luggage properly to see if I can get away with just the one carry-on bag. My suitcase is really heavy due to all the books and stuff I’m taking for people and the previously mentioned ton of gaming paperwork. I knew it would be, hence checked baggage this time
Suitcase is packed apart from my Covid tests but I’ll pop those in once I’ve done my pre-flight test this evening

Okay, that's everything that I can sensibly do - along with a few things that probably weren't that sensible - so it's time to go and pack for the flight to Gdansk. Much of it is done bar the toiletries and the forest-worth of scenarios, pre-gens, and handouts!

Given the party's refusal to act on Pochin's brazen racism, it should be as socially unacceptable to vote for Reform as it was in the early 2000s to vote for the BNP.

And we should be prepared to say this to people's faces.
KLM, never making things easy. I could change the seat on my first flight for free because 30-hour check-in. If I changed the seat assigned to me for my second flight, £11 charge because it’s more than 30 hours away. But it’s part of the same trip! (No charge if I keep the seat they assigned)
No, you’re up at stupid o’clock because KLM’s stupid 30-hour check-in window

friend shared this, immediately updated my settings
It's almost 10:20 pm and I've just finished work for the day. Sometimes, con prep can be brutal. (There were breaks for lunch and tea, and a phonecall to Mum, I hasten to add)

Beautiful, but also the most 1980s tartan ever
A new Scottish tartan memorializing the (mainly) female victims of the Witchcraft Act has been officially registered, created by Claire Mitchell and Zoe Venditozzi, founders of the Witches of Scotland campaign #WomensArt

Everyone deserves a little treat. Even if all you did was exist today, you all deserve a little treat. Not me, though. I haven't done enough.

To all the forgotten women. /end
The second is Death’s Hand in Mine. Patti Lupone was superb throughout as Lilia Calderu, but that episode shows how well crafted the earlier ones were. It’s also such a poignant episode, and a great callback with Time in a Bottle (okay, different film series but, hey…) /3
The first is If I Can’t Reach You/Let My Song Teach You, which not only has the best version of the Witches’ Road song but has some great humour and character development. /2
