Thiel is a true threat people should be paying attention to. But his buddy Musk is getting all the camera time. Both are examples on why humanity cannot afford unlimited power or wealth to reside in a few individuals.

Think Isaac Asimov’s Foundation could have warned us about that.

Biodiversity in Australia (due to a range of habitats & the effect of geographic isolation) is vast. Eg., Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park in Sydney has more individual species than the entire British Isles!

Australia has far more to lose than most of the world. All the more reason to protect it.

Oh, 1,000s of species, flora & fauna, large & small, and yes, well documented.

Look at how much habitat in the UK & Western Europe has been cleared over the millenia for farming. It devastated biodiversity. So species loss calculated from 200 years ago, begins from a lower starting point.

Without understating the parlous impact of habitat loss, climate change & the impact of invasive species on Australia's flora & fauna, we should note that the reason its species are going extinct at a higher rate than in other countries is that most of their extinctions happened centuries ago.
