Hi friends,

Many of you know me, some it’s the first time meeting.

Here’s an introduction from last month when BlueSky has a multitude of new accounts. It’s a decent overview of my social media interactions & goals.

TL;DR: daily natural wonders, always punch a nazi, good faith engagement.

Welcome new friends and friends I haven’t seen in awhile~

If you’re sharing this BlueSky space with me you’ll be seeing a lot of mountain & desert adventures, the wonders of the cosmos, and lots of invertebrate creatures. 💜💙💚

SuperDog Rex says good autumn morning from the hills.
A brown brindle dog with a white chest sitting on a boulder. He is looking right at the camera. It is a sage Rush landscape with forted mountains in the background. The sky is mainly clear except for clouds sitting on top of the mountain.

The pull to book a flight is sooooo strong! Especially with the active volcano!

Thank you! I’d love to recreate it right now.

When I landed, I bought a leis to wear for the remainder of my visit. Part of the visit was vacation, part was work. When I gave a work presentation, I definitely decked out in a lei 🌺

🔭 1/2 Here's the Tulip Nebula (Sharpless 101) a glowing cloud of hydrogen gas located about 6,000 light years away in the direction of the constellation of Cygnus, the Swan. The nebula is nice but what makes me happiest is what is also in this image.
A telescopic image of a dense field of stars. At center in the Tulip Nebula, a red cloud of glowing gas with an irregular shape. Two dark "fingers" of dust can be seen extending up from the bottom part of the nebula.

Ah nostalgia! It’s weird how some memories, emotions, sense of self & place just appear without warning…

It’s early, but I really would love to celebrate Día de Muertos Hawaiian style again.
Me, with short hair, wearing a black Día de Muertos T-shirt with sugar, skulls plus flowers, and a Hawaiian lei, with a cloudy sky and palm trees behind me.

I definitely see it on FB from Boomer Progressives. They’re as bad as Extreme Right.

AI images definitely don’t help with critical thought either: “but I saw it with my own eyes!” No. No, you didn’t.

And this from highly educated Boomer Progressives. If I didn’t see them socially, I’d unfriend.

I am an AltText evangelist. But sometimes I’m using talk-to-text and those typos slide on bye.

Though not a busy as their more famous kin the beaver, right now Muskrats are very occupied in their own right making winter preparations. #mammals

From you ~ thank you ☺️

I tried to rub them out in Lightroom, but I also figured I’d leave the evidence there. So everyone can hate on starlink as much as me.

If I can stack on my phone, I will.

I did not! Maybe it’s time for me to dance the time warp again. 👄

But Marianne, how can you be sure this handsome & accomplished BlueSkyGuy is a scammer?

I dunno maybe because he’s only following women whose name is a version of Julia or Marianne.

Big clue. Huge clue.

Should be naked eye observable soon!
mariannedenton.bsky.social
Yes! This is C/2025 A6 (Lemmon). Going to be baked eye visible soonish.

I’ve learned how comets are named this past year:
C/: comet
Year of first recorded observation: 2025
A6: the half-month being Jan 1–15 plus the 6th comet first observed
Lemmon: observatory or survey that identified it

Very cool! Is that the newly discovered one?

Good morning from The Denton Observatory!

🔭 #Astrophotography
A comment with a greenish tinged nucleus, and, and light yellow tail. There are multiple stars in the background. There are satellite trails through throughout the photo.

I have so much respect for the gorgeous astrophotography from proper telescopes and all the equipment & effort to take such incredible photos.

But it wasn’t for me. Mainly time. And partially cost.

While I love to observe with my telescopes, I’m about to pull out the Seestar to catch a comet.
