Make mine an everything (plus the lox, capers, and red onions)

I just love all the seeds, even if my gums don't.

Between him and Noem, South Dakota owes the rest of the country a HELL of an apology. Really punching above their weight in evil.

Thune: "If the Democrats had won the majority, they probably would've tried to nuke the filibuster. And then you'd have four new senators from Puerto Rico and DC, you'd have a packed Supreme Court, you'd have abortion on demand ... "

We've got contract negotiations next year. Going to be pushing hard against any mandatory AI anything, at least as a starting place.

Charlie Kirk was a religious extremist and an advocate for mass censorship of academics he hated.

But as a political organizer and creator of opportunities for his comrades, there's much that can be learned from what he did. @matthewboedy.bsky.social discusses on the latest Theory of Change
What Charlie Kirk knew
The slain co-founder of Turning Point was a masterful political organizer—and a religious extremist

Took a break from the Supreme Court's ongoing horrorshow to focus on what really matters: how funny it is for a federal judge to decide, as a matter of law, that Drake lost the Kendrick Lamar beef
Federal Judge Declares Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Too Awesome to Be Defamatory
Apparently, Drake decided that losing in the court of public opinion was not humiliating enough.

No. 1 is a huge one to get past. Had a student with "How long until we get to full fascism..."

Me: "We're in fascism, in the process of a regime consolidating power. It's not coming, it's here."

S: "But when they start shooting people and stuff"

Me: "They have. It's not everything at once."

The House Majority Whip is also insisting that a peaceful "No Kings" demonstration is in fact a "hate America rally" held for the "terrorist wing" of the Democratic Party.

Really feels like they're trying to manifest a violent reaction to it.

Emmer: "This is about one thing and one thing alone -- to score political points with the terrorist wing of their party, which is set to hold a hate America rally in DC next week."

I can VERY EASILY see mgmt trying to force AI into the assessment process, and I can see companies like OpenAI selling it that way. There is a HUGE overlap between the institutionalized "culture of assessment" and the uses of those tools.
diasporaminnesotan.bsky.social
This is--for most of us, I would hope--a "no duh" thing.

However, I can really, really see admins trying to push this with regard to assessment outcomes and such: have the AI do it. It's so in fitting with that entire mindset.

I strongly urge everyone to not just read this warning from @marcwatkins.bsky.social, but heed it, and be vocal and forceful pushing back against using AI to grade student writing. This must be anathema if we're going to have a world where learning means something. substack.com/inbox/post/1...

The fact that they are still doing the "Soros-paid protestors" bit is just an incredible testimony to the durability of certain tropes to negate the popular will, regardless of the lack of evidence.

Sen. Roger Marshall: "October 18 is when the protest gets here. This will be a Soros paid-for protest for his professional protesters. The agitators show up. We'll have to get the National Guard out. Hopefully it will be peaceful. I doubt it."

He has nothing to say. People who think he does are fucking idiots.
