I grew up in a time and place where it was very hard for the weirdos to find one another. Listening to Dr Demento meant tapping into a vast underground network of the weird. We'd tape the shows and pass them around like samizdat.

The keyboardist on the album, Joe Bidewell, came to one of my events for the Paris 1919 book--currently living in Nashville and gigging from time to time. The lead guitarist, Marc Aron, is absolutely superb--no one seems to know what happened to him after this.
