We are looking, sir. I wish we didn’t have to 🙃
Trump: Look what happened to our Country when a Crooked Moron became our “President!”
Geez. What was Halloween like before 1931????

why do these guys always act like they don’t get the internet on their phones
WELKER: Will the 10% tariffs apply to all Canadian goods?

BESSENT: I've been traveling since this unfortunate event happened. We'll have to see

WELKER: Does the president know if the tariffs will apply to all Canadian goods?

BESSENT: I'm sure he knows.

The Fred Trump treatment. Give him a fake job while Miller draws up missile strike plans on fishermen.
I think there’s a near zero chance that Meyer is interested in coaching again but I also think there’s a near zero chance that PSU hasn’t reached out to him about the job

1. Reagan’s speech is real

2. It’s public domain

3. Americans pay the cost of the added 10% tariffs, not Canadians

4. Trump keeps lying because he thinks you’re all too stupid to fact check

5. The average family will pay an extra $4900 this year because his tariffs

The "theory" is "I've got big guns and the Supreme Court said I'm immune from any criminal prosecution, and Congress lets me get away with everything, so I'm gonna murder brown people with big explosions and tell the public I'm saving them from drugs."

Saved you a click.

The Founders anticipated the possibility of a corrupt, venal, lawbreaking, wannabe monarch president.

What they did not expect is numerous people achieving prominent national office and not wanting to guard their own power. The combo of ego to run but pathetic absence of ego in office stands out.
Imagine being Xi Jinping and spending decades developing strategy and cutting edge military technology to deny the US access to the Taiwan strait and then before you invade we just… leave.

Maybe this is what Trump meant by “the candidate to keep us out of WWIII.” We surrendered before it started.
Must suck to be a China hawk and watch the US Navy's most advanced aircraft carrier being deployed off the Venezuelan coast to plink unarmed speedboats & threaten regime change that might bog the US down (again)

But… but… but… does Club 33 come with periodic volunteer opportunities????
They’re already missing paychecks, but they haven’t yet started calling out en masse. I think you’re right that that’s one of the few things that could practically force the issue; not least because it would directly impact Congress members themselves.
Just one symptom of a bigger problem/plan that goes back further - the Executive acting as though other 2 branches are unnecessary and/or illegitimate. Before Trump was even POTUS he announced he wouldn't enforce TikTok ban passed by Congress. Enforcing duly passed laws is POTUS' non-optional job!
Even Epstein aside, neither party currently has political incentive to give an inch. The first to compromise will look “weak.” Rs don’t care about any of the services impacted. Ds have no reason to trust any agreement with Rs on anything. Truly crazy/unprecedented incentives on both sides.
Chat, is it a good sign if a Nazi tattoo makes a candidate more popular with voters?
New Maine Senate race poll shows Platner with 46% and Mills at only 25%.

The tattoo and Reddit controversies made 45% of those polled more likely to support Platner. Absolutely wild.

It wasn't fake. It was edited. But Reagan really did spend a five-minute speech – an April 25, 1987, national radio address that the Reagan Library has published on YouTube – to rail against tariffs. It was a full-throated expression of support for free and fair trade.

giving AI the disrespect it deserves
“I am not interested, nor will I ever be interested. I'm 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak. ... The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, ‘What is your stance on AI?’ And my answer was very short. I said, ‘I'd rather die.’” 🫡
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI
Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

Retired intelligence analysts confirm what the political scientists are telling us — and what the world outside is telling us — the goal of these people is the end of law, the end of democracy, and the end of a recognizable republic.

What Trump took from conservatism is less taxes/regulation, but he's decidedly anticonservative when it comes to free trade and state ownership of business. Unlike Bernie & Reagan that represent competing coherent economic philosophies, for Trump it's all just a means to the end of self enrichment.
Trump getting big mad about a Canadian ad using Ronald Reagan's own words to mean exactly what Reagan meant at the time highlights something I've found fascinating since Trump entered the race in 2015: In terms of macroeconomic policy & trade, Trump has much more in common with Bernie than Reagan.
Man. Trumpublicans really, really, *really* hate being reminded of longstanding conservative macroeconomic orthodoxy.
The strongest economic and security alliance in the history of the entire planet splintering all because of one moron's inability to understand concepts like "trade" and "positive sum interactions."

If & when federal courts (& SCOTUS) insist on deferring to the President's determination that deploying the Natl Guard is necessary for the enforcement of federal law, safety, etc. - please remember Trump says he's making such decisions based in part on what the CEOs of Salesforce & NVIDIA tell him.
