I am still withholding making big conclusions about the election losses this week. As I process, I’m finding some articles resonating with me more than others. While I’m not I’m not sold on 100% of everything here, I wanted to share some pieces I’ve found compelling. 🧵

I think Zohran is great and inspiring and much needed right now, but all he's doing is like the job as it's supposed to be. Starts with a set of principles and advocates for them. It's like how everyone goes crazy for Chotiner for just doing the job. Not an indictment on either of them but the rest.

vought's view is that the president is an elected dictator and lo and behold he is seizing outright the power of the purse

Unconstitutionally taking money that the law says must be spent on one purpose & using it for something else—when it's to establish personalist control over the FUCKING MILITARY—is about as dangerous a constitutional crisis/failure as you can imagine

The Office of Management and Budget sent a notification to Congress about their intent to use research and development funds to pay members of the military, two sources with direct knowledge tell NBC News.

A spokesperson for the OMB confirmed to NBC News that it plans to use the research and development funds and that there are two years' worth of funds available within the Department of Defense.

Single issue voter who’s issue is the aggressive criminal prosecution of crimes done by Trump admin officials from 2025-2028

Don’t tell him about the orcs Jon!

This is it right here:
Think about it this way. Either what Trump is doing is legal, or it is illegal.
If it is legal, then Trumpism must be defeated and there then must be a concerted effort to reform the law-and possibly even the Constitution-to prevent the next authoritarian attempt.
If it is illegal, then eventually, someone has to go to jail for what this
administration is doing to the country.
If this story doesn't end with one of those two outcomes, then we will see it replayed again. And again.

One thing is clear - no elected Democrat is going to be considered for a Nobel Peace Prize for their protection of democracy in this country any time soon

boy it would be nice to have an opposition party reacting to this in a way that suggests there’s going to be justice for it someday

Picture how big the Hoover Dam is. An absolute unit. The Hoover Dam has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW).

The solar farm that the Admin just cancelled could have produces 6.2 GW of power. That's more than 3 Hoover Dams.

SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency

Glad to see Russ Vought is setting himself up to go to jail when accountability starts.

Three key points:
1) The admin has been planning mass firings to begin in October since February
2) The work necessary to carry out mass firings is illegal during a shutdown, violating the Antideficiency Act, which carries a criminal penalty
3) This harms America, ridding us of talent and expertise

For Bessent’s $20 billion bet on Argentina to pay off, a lot of things have to go right.

The problem is that in Argentina -- a nation with a track record of squandering other people’s money and defaulting on its own debts -- those things have tended to go wrong.

I thought VAR was brought in by Norway to deal with situations like this - a President aggressively trying to start a hot civil war in his own country *not* getting the Nobel Peace Prize. How can the on-field decision stand??

A democracy activist in a repressive regime is more worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize than the man responsible for taking away lifesaving medicine that will lead to the death of millions of people? Not for me, Clive.
