I work as a cryptic crossword compiler (I was a software developer but I have retired) and occasionally I ask an AI for help with constructing a clue, a question like "can 'box' be used as an anagram indicator? Give examples if so"

Inevitably the answer shows no understanding of the question.

Yes, he said that. I highly recommend reading or watching historical information on Israel and Palestine from Noam Chomsky or Norman Finkelstein.

I read that line "The Speaker has an enormous..." And was mentally filling in possible endings. Which was curiously satisfying...

This feels like a challenge to compile every instance recorded in Hansard when Winston Peters or David Seymour have been deliberately out of order and/or disorderly and received no rebuke or disciplinary action from the Speaker.💩😡

Which is what they basically said, but also “well here’s another good option we offer” which is such a weird place for a company to be in with quality product that does what it says on the packet.

"They were a great company before Musk bought them and shouldn't be dissed just because of him" perhaps?

I mean, I assume they were, or why would he have bought them? And the blue bird...

Renting, I hasten to add... 😕

Point being - don't just swallow Seymour's (poorly labelled) claims as to what is a "problem" the government can act to fix. Many of the labelling laws/regulations are in place precisely because we've agreed to common arrangements - and "going our own way" will come at a cost.

Re-upping this thread in light of @ben.gracewood.nz uncovering that there is no record of David Seymour ever being told (as he had claimed) that alcohol warning labels hamper craft brewers ... a non-issue that would require us to break from our international agreements to fix ...

This is just crazy. An inexperienced government makes a knee-jerk reaction and the taxpayers end up paying. It’s insulting to South Islanders too, as the importance of prioritising transport links between the North and South Island seems to have taken a back seat in their stuffing around.

It'll be close to double, for worse ships

So $1.5bn or so for 2 ferries that are worse than the two Winston bought for $550m

To sum up we're likely spending ~$700m per ferry to get worse ferries than the two we ordered for $550m total

So-orig it was $551m for 2 top of the line Korean rail ferries delivered this year & next. It cost National $671m to cancel them. We don’t know the added price for these Chinese Ferries-hopefully they won’t be full of asbestos like the rail carriages were #nzpol www.1news.co.nz/2025/10/14/g...

It’s ironic that this happens the day after the Luxon Govt announced it will make the climate crisis worse by letting the dairy industry off the hook for its superheating methane emissions.

JB you’ve been on such a role lately, please don’t kill it with nonsense. What about all the innocent Palestinian children, women and elderly that have been slaughtered by US Bombs? What about the prisoners in Israel that have said and proven to have been tortured, beaten and raped?

There’s a major global climate adaptation summit in Christchurch soon but the National Party won’t let the climate minister attend.

Maybe they’re embarrassed about their recent efforts to make climate change worse!
