Is there anyone, given #NewZealand's rental laws and quality of rentals, that would prefer to rent over own a home? if the costs were similar?

www.rnz.co.nz/news/busines...
Is it cheaper to pay a mortgage, or rent?
In both markets, people looking for a home have the power.

The coalition chose the contract between those parties, they had a choice on this, its not a de facto thing

They didnt have to forma government if they didnt want this outcome
No wonder the entire coalition has voted as one over the past few years. A few bills would never had made it, if it was an individual vote.

246,473 people voted for ACT in 2023

Over 98% of public submissions against the Regulatory Standards Bill

Every other party wants rid of it

Yet Luxon sold us all out for a knighthood

NZ first and National both sold the country out to appease a racist atlas fuckwit and HATE the regulatory standards bill

But they are happy to vote in legislation they hate for power

They will sell out anything for power

TBH if we had a rule where you had to build 1 for very 2 houses you bought I would be ok with that..
Landlords do not provide housing they’re in a shoddy business that offers very little protection to those who need to rent.

Yeah yeah not all landlords, not all men either but lens.monash.edu/@politics-so...

Remember they have already changed how our vote are counted excluding up to 400k voters and removed voting rights from prisoners who tend to vote against this gov

They've put major powers in the hands of ministers

And now they continue war on Democracy, centralizing power away from locals

New Zealand's idea of being energy independent is importing more natural gas, coal, old polluting cars and refined fossil fuels
more and more countries are going to see that getting off foreign oil imports is a great reason to accelerate electrification and renewables buildout, regardless of what it means for the climate
The energy transition happens often in unlikely places at unprecedented rates.

Take Nepal: Over the past year, electric vehicles accounted for 76 percent of all passenger vehicles and half of the light commercial vehicles sold in Nepal.

Five years ago, that number was essentially zero.

After making some progress between 2019 and 2023, New Zealand's transport emissions are creeping up again. Transport is a big chunk (about half) of our fossil fuel emissions and of course it should be going down, not up.
