I once had a book on "Ideas of 50 economists" or something like that. It gave a brief (couple/few pages) outline of the main idea(s) of different economists. As a layman it was a great way to learn a little about lots of different approaches.

I hoped Labour were going to do sensible things rather than PR related stunts, and in a lot of areas they are. But their tax policies are horrible and just continue the silly, small changes that previous govs made, gradually but inexorably making the system more complicated and worse, not better. ☹️😬

Ditto for most taxes, but particularly those linked to investment (CGT, ISA rules, etc etc). There are pros and cons for different approaches, which is why they keep being changed, but the only significant result is from the continual changes, and it's bad.

I don’t think people have understood that pensions are super long term commitment and having the rules shift underneath you *every year* is incredibly damaging: no-one can plan their future when the pensions regime flails around like a loose firehose.
