The worst part is encouraging to use for self-study..
No one is going to check if the shit you're being told is correct, you would be learning things wrong and making the experience 10 times worse for a beginner 🙄

I didn't feel like dragging him through the mud with his workplace, so I kept it hearing-loss-related.

What a bummer. My first 老师 had me spoiled with good teaching... I hope he is available in the future.

I explained to the institute that his style doesn't work with my hearing loss. He relies on us taking notes from what he says, even after I told him I can't understand him well- no notes with hanzi, only the book. But if I had been honest.. he lost me with the chatgpt rant. That is poor teaching.

Its specially egregious with chinese- half of the machine translations are WRONG or miss the point. We saw it live with the other teacher- he actively encouraged us to avoid using the translator because of that. To check other sources. Like, you know, a real teacher.
