I encountered a setback while working on commissions last week, having to restart some that were almost finished as I was unsatisfied with the results 🫠

It was frustrating, but necessary! I'm nearly caught up now and liking my second attempts much more, but things were stressful for a second.

I hadn't picked up a book in the longest time, randomly decided to sign up for a library card in the autumn and now I'm hooked. I think I must have gone through over a dozen of titles in the last two months, including audiobooks.

My four entries I submitted to Infected By Art this year!
two oils, one ink and the very last digital piece I did at the start of this year for my portfolio.
Looking forward to scrolling through the submissions gallery now that the deadline has closed.
A goblin hunter in scavenged and 'borrowed' equipment patrolling through the snowfields and forests. It has violet skin and in a snowy environment ink painting of Trench Crusade Heretic Legion launching an assault on an off screen enemy. They are equipped with ww1 clothing, armour and weaponry as well as demonic assistance from large hulking creatures. Some figures float ominously in the skies and conjur artillery bombs to launch at the enemy. Rotspew Hydra. A gargantuan zombie hydra chases its prey through a swamp. It has holes in its body, the skulls are visible on several heads and it is spewing noxious gasses, bile and acid at an unfortuanate person. oils on panel Entrancing performance- Digital- A decaying fairy performs a moonlit dance on the petals of flowers for an entranced human. two other fairies lie in ambush for the human.

War Mage

Combining these spoils into a tradition of magic that demands respect and punishes any who would deny its self-acclaimed importance. Still, while these may be lowly pursuits the power of the arcane is shackled and grounded by human desire and reasoning. But, place such a practitioner amongst the horrors of war, and not in the vain position of a commander, nor in the comfort of a ritualist but in the boots of a common soldier. Then watch their vanity wash away by a life in trenches, packed against dirt and corpses like a dead man in a coffin. Watch their shield of pride crumble as their spellwards against blades and arrows do nothing against the attrition of conflict. Watch their hunger for power die as their destructive spells do nothing against the arrows and blades that fell their comrades in droves. Then gaze upon the work of a practitioner void of the purpose that granted them power. Gaze upon the violence only humans can wrack but devoid of the love and passion, of the resentment and hate, of the righteous fury and deserved vengeance, of the vicious greed and the hunger for power that should guide it. Gaze upon the insatiable hunger of a beast that cannot be fed. It is an abomination. It is a war mage."

"Birth of the Homunculus"

A sorceress astounded by her creation.

This painting has been floating around in my head for months now, and I only found the right time to bring it to fruition yesterday!

A sorceress astounded by her freshly sculpted homunculus. A single shaft of light illuminates her creation. Bounce lighting reflects upon the sorceress. The homunculus has a flaccid butt. The maker's hands are covered in fresh clay. They are the only body parts of the sorceress that are directly lit. Faint, residual purple smoke wisps from her fingertips: the homunculus stands in an awkward pose, that of a creature freshly adjusting to its body. The homunculus has thin limbs and a hefty torso, though it is faced against the viewer. The sorceress's workshop is littered in sculpting tools, brushes, an open tome of transmutation, ceramic bowls and a pitcher of dirty clay water in which lie a few of these tools. Clay shavings are scattered about the floor. A red, runic circle surrounds the humonculus. In the dark background it is possible to catch a few failed prototypes on a shelf.
