Posts like this are why I follow Adam Gaffin’s @universalhub.com and if you’re in greater Boston I recommend you do too. Hyper local coverage of issues I care about, made even more essential as local media outlets become ever more scarce.

happy bday Eleanor Roosevelt, b.1884, NYC.

This post is about Boston, and we plan to keep it that way. DM me for more info on an event we are having to protect our strong gun laws in Massachusetts. The NRA put a question on the 2026 to repeal our recent gun safety legislation, and I am chairing the committee that is saying absolutely not.

The cost of housing aside, I think it's one of the few places left in the US where you can feel the illusion of safety for days at a time. Yes, strangers don't wave hello on the street, but they also don't open-carry long guns on the street.

I recently sat down with three leaders who are part of the @obamafoundation.bsky.social's alumni network to hear more about their work to strengthen democracy in Hungary and Poland. They’re an example for us all. Take a look:

Yeah, while there are aspects of things like autism and ADHD that make life harder no matter what (to different degrees for each individual), a big chunk of "symptoms" are really "our brains work in a way that is incompatible with the way our society is set up for and by other people".

I’m not autistic, just a parent to an autistic kid w/ fairly significant support needs, but I personally find it very frustrating to see so many people fixated on preventing, reducing, or “curing” autism and neurodiversity instead of talking about inclusion + getting folks whatever support they need

This interview on the recklessness of our current AI path is well worth a watch:

CHT co-founder Tristan Harris returns to "The Daily Show" for an incisive conversation about the reckless AI path we're on, driven by the race to achieve market dominance: "This is an insane way to roll out a technology."

Dolly rules and non parents probably won't know this, but she has a book club for little kids and she will just send them books for free. my kids have loved them. it's a good excuse to stop doing something and just hang out and read a book with them.

Washington Post dismantled the platform Jamal wrote on. Discarded the fellowship they created in his memory.

They fired me unjustly for speaking the truth.

But I’ll never stop talking about my friend, writer, and amazing human, Jamal Khashoggi.

RIP, Jamal.

They willfully refuse to understand, “‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ / He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’” 😞

Our government has given these men license to do this. Supplied them with weapons and uniforms even. Given them ample resources to live out their hate filled fantasies while saying we have no resources for healthcare. It’s truly unforgivable.

“Fuck them kids.”

That’s literally what an ICE agent said when ICE, the FBI et al. raided an apartment in Chicago, including with a Blackhawk helicopter, separated children from their parents, and zip-tied them to each other.
