within the battlefield franchise I'm guessing there's a desire to not repeat the battlefield 4 UCAV suicide drone griefing, people really hated getting killed by those

will never not be funny to see a post conclude "DO SOMETHING!!!" and then it's signed by the friggin president
like dog aren't you the someone who could do something?

One that is easily implemented and I'd find satisfactory is for us to start weighing abuses negatively in federal employment suitability screenings and clearance investigations. Effectively blacklisting the most actively offensive DHS components from security employment would be a good step.

there's a couple of sequences about it in the campaign but it felt very shoehorned in, which is a shame

It's been really, really nice seeing the Catholic social justice tradition in the US feel like it's empowered to spread its wings again without risking censure after a long time of being suppressed by US Catholic leadership, and it's exactly what I was hoping for from Pope Bob.

This is actually good news, because it's pretty limited in the amount they can pull through this mechanism, and it means they're not breaking the law in the meantime.

The DoD is allowed to transfer this money per statute apparently (though this is outside of my area). The CR in March upped it to 8 billion.
Of course it has. It always does. Sec 8005 of DOD Appropriations, for starters… That one provision now allows for $8b in transfers, per March’s full year CR:

party of old men with all consuming and shameful humiliation kink ig man i dunno

i usually am bigly skeptical of political psychology studies but maybe there's something there after all in re: studies that find that conservatives have stronger fear/aversion responses on average
midlifesuezcrisis.bsky.social
Yeah that's what I was after by "relevant"

This principle applies more broadly against relevant DHS and DOJ personnel imo. There was a grace period early in 2025, but by October, you've seen enough. There's no penalty for quitting, and the raids seem very enthusiastic. All complicit, all guilty by association.

it's amazing how many old conservative idols are not just broken, but actively inverted by nu-GOP

"the federal budget is not a credit card, except when we need it to be, in which case lemme see what kinda credit line we can get against future year spend"

really curious if we are going to see internal US Church fights over denial of communion to implicated DHS personnel, a la the arguments over denying communion to pro abortion rights politicians

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

I don't know how much of DICE/Battlefield Studios are still Swedes, but that would explain a lot tbh

insofar as it has "politics" it is loosely a campaign about how important it is for NATO not to fragment & for the USA and the UK to not go it alone in an increasingly dangerous world

interesting also for being a big budget mil shooter where you don't fight Russians, Chinese, Iranians, or AQ/ISIS
midlifesuezcrisis.bsky.social
it's not a *good* campaign but it is a pretty charming Mad Libs pastiche of 2010s mil shooter greatest hits

Uhhhh sure let's have [MARSOC] defend [THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES] on the rooftop of a [FIRE STATION] against a [NATIONALLY AMBIGUOUS] [PMC] in [NEW YORK CITY]

also very pro NATO🤙

Extremely silly plot aside the BF6 campaign is a lot of fun. Also I keep laughing at the idea that since they shorthand the enemy as “Pax”…the entire campaign is a war against peace.
midlifesuezcrisis.bsky.social
CJ is good people but yeah, it's damage control at the margins.
midlifesuezcrisis.bsky.social
is it coincidence or providence that the march lines up with the Harper's Ferry anniversary?

He's a pretty nice dude. The face he shows the audience is the face he's shown... Everyone? since he was probably 16?
