A central underpinning of conservatism is the willingness to break something to prove it’s broken; the CDC, FEMA, public ed, higher ed, organized labor, hell, the entirety of the electoral process!

They don’t care who it hurts. They don’t care that it’s regressive. It’s f*cked up & intentional.
Q: What was RFK Jr's reaction when you raised the need to consult scientific evidence?

Former CDC Director: He stated there was no scientific evidence associated with vaccines. He called CDC the most corrupt agency in the world. He said that CDC employees were horrible people, were killing children

The soybean storage situation is dire: this map shows basis (the difference between futures prices and the actual local cash prices) across the country as of 10/6. The futures prices were already grim, but what you see here is farmers are being offered *drastically* less than even those awful prices

Trump is already shifting the burden of disaster relief onto states and it’s already proving to be devastating for these communities as they recover (great read from a friend) www.nytimes.com/2025/10/16/c...

This isn’t the whole story, of course – but if it’s not at the core of your story, you’re on the wrong track.

Add “Once democracy made it possible for women to threaten patriarchal domination and for queer people to publicly affirm their identity” – and we’re already very, very close.
Once American democracy made it possible for a Black man to be elected president, American conservatives decided that it had to be destroyed
While Vought traces the “leftwing revolution” back a hundred years, to the progressive era, there is no question that the election of Barack Obama was a radicalizing moment for him and many key thinkers on the radical Right - as were the multiracial protests in the summer of 2020.

Someone shouted, “Go Cubs!” to Pope Leo.

The world's most famous White Sox fan smiled and replied in Spanish: “They lost!”

If the Supreme Court just calls balls and strikes yesterday’s oral arguments about the Voting Rights Act was as if Louisiana threw a wild pitch into the stands and the conservative Justices called it a strike and the liberal Justices said you’ve got to be kidding
Read this. The entire thing is worth the time but this, in particular, is 🔥🔥🔥 from @bedoyausa.bsky.social:
It’s truly a shame nobody’s given us a sitcom/reality show at this point.
@markpochow.com will verify

In the midst of a bad moment during the Brewers game last night, I said “this is bad, something’s off — like really bad”, to which he responded “well at least we’re still pretty!”

And I looked him dead in the face & said “I’d trade you bein’ ugly for a win right now.” ☠️
I just laughed out loud alone in the apartment for three minutes over something I remembered saying to Mark last night. icyww how close to crazy I might be.

So, huge day in French politics tomorrow: The latest Macronist Prime Minister, Lecornu, is trying to survive—and he made a big move: He promised he'll suspend the 2023 reform that raised the retirement age, in exchange for the main center-left dominant party not voting to topple him. (1/?)

The guy worth half a billion dollars on TV telling Americans they won't get paid if they object to a monarchy. Masterful comms strategy. Well played.
Bessent: "This crazy No Kings rally this weekend, which is gonna be the farthest left, the hardest core, the most unhinged in the Democratic Party, which is a big title. No Kings equals no paychecks."

I need things that bring me joy down 0-2 in this series & ET did it.
When I say “baseball is best” that’s normally my version of “I watch for the plot”, y’all. lol
Mornin’, folks — mainly to former Brewer, Eric Thames, whose shirtless display was more impressive than most anything on the field. 🙂‍↕️
