A few pretties I've crocheted for myself or others the past couple of years.
Crocheted dice bag of the Emperor from Baldur's Gate 3, shown from the front, holding a purple d20 die. Crocheted dice bag of the Emperor from Baldur's Gate 3 from behind. Various green and black dice spill out from an open zipper at the base to show how much it can hold. A small set of four shelves on a plain wall displaying crocheted dolls and dice bags. Characters represented are Baby Yoda, Pikachu, Cthulhu (with and without top hat/monocle), and a Mind Flayer.

Dude I’m calling it, Thiel is cooked. He accidentally dropped a Tangible Detail. Most people didn’t know he existed and now he’s The Billionaire Who Thinks That One Piece Is Jesus.

thiel, man, what the fuck are you talking about

He describes the plot of Watchmen, a 1986 graphic novel involving superheroes grappling with moral questions about humanity against the backdrop of impending nuclear war:

The antihero Ozymandias, the antichrist-type figure, is sort of an early-modern person. He believes this will be a timeless and eternal solution – eternal world peace. Moore is sort of a late-modern. In early modernity, you have ideal solutions, ‘perfect’ solutions to calculus. In late modernity, things are sort of probabilistic. And at some point, he asks Dr Manhattan whether the world government is going to last. And he says that ‘nothing lasts forever.’ So you embrace the antichrist and it still doesn’t work.

Thiel later finds biblical meaning in the manga One Piece, discussing how he believes it represents a future where an antichrist-like one-world government has repressed science. He believes that the hero, Monkey D Luffy, represents a Christlike figure.

In One Piece, you are set in a fantasy world, again sort of an alternate earth, but it’s 800 years into the reign of this one-world state. Which, as the story unfolds, gradually gets darker and darker. You sort of realize, in my interpretation, who runs the world and it’s something like the antichrist. There’s Luffy, a pirate who wears a red straw hat, sort of like Christ’s crown of thorns. And then towards the end of the story, transforms into a figure who resembles Christ in Revelation.

Thiel, along with a researcher and writer at Thiel Capital, explored these ideas at greater length in an essay for the religious journal First Things earlier this month.

You know someone's a really good communicator (and YouTuber) when they can carry you along for half an hour on a subject you know and care nothing about, and you don't even notice time passing.
Scott can do that.

FUN FACT: Social Security and Medicare are mandatory spending programs that are unaffected by government shutdowns. So, what they're telling you here is that they *voluntarily* want to stop giving you your money and health care.

👀 Just Now -- President Trump in the Oval Office said a government shutdown gives his administration the power to cut benefit programs, which include Social Security and Medicare.

www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
“We can do things during the shutdown that are irreversible, that are bad for them, and irreversible by them, like cutting vast numbers of people out, cutting things that they like, cutting programs that they like. And, you all know Russell Vought. He’s become very popular recently because he can trim the budget to a level that you couldn't do any other way. So they're taking a risk by having a shutdown. Because of the shutdown, we can do things medically and other ways, including benefits. We can cut large numbers of people. We don't want to do that, but we don't want fraud, waste and abuse.”

If you can't find a Kravitz scarf, you should look into a Fourth Doctor one. They even come in a couple different patterns!

This is the best elevator pitch I've seen from Dems on the shutdown.
chrismurphyct.bsky.social
Good morning.

The government is shut down because Trump wants to act like a king and steal from you.

Democrats have no obligation to support a budget that funds the destruction of our democracy - and DOUBLES health premiums to fund a tax cut for billionaires.
mindovermuses.bsky.social
Oh, to be universally hated AND not get paid for however long the shutdown looms too boot... And if they don't make their quotas while not getting paid, they'll lose their bonuses and loan forgiveness, right?

Finally had a chance to watch the last episode of 'Cloudward Ho!' on @dimension20.bsky.social nsion20.

I can't tell you how much I wish Emily would have read the full description of Vortex Warp with the realization that lava is a liquid in DnD. Special note that it says "in" a liquid, not "on" one.

You guys, so many Romance girlies are reading "On Tyranny" that they've broken the Goodreads recommendations algorithm. 10/10; no notes.
