the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

It’s poking fun at Israelis who claim to have invented all kinds of middle eastern dishes. Which I’ve been learning more about Mizrahi Jewish history and at BEST, it’s unclear who “invented” them. But yeah, shouldn’t be a topic tbh.

For sure, but I definitely have seen people claiming that Israel “invented” certain dishes that existed long before Israel. Though I suppose those people might MEAN the nation of Jews as a people so it’s definitely a fraught thing.

I’m not disputing that redlining exists nor that crime is largely a product of socioeconomic factors. How else would you compare the “danger” of 2 cities?

That’s great but anecdotal evidence is hardly representative. I grew up in a “bad” neighborhood and never had a problem, too, but there were still people getting shot.
