I also don’t pick up books based on tropes. I want books to surprise me with things I haven’t read before, not try to draw me in based on general tropes it shares with a million other books.

I’m more drawn in by evocative descriptions that give me a sense of the mood/tone of the story and a hint of the author’s style. Listing that a story has “enemies to lovers” tells me nothing about how the story uses or approaches it.

That’s the nature of modern publishing; it’s how books are marketed, and some agents ask for those formats. As a reader, I dislike it too, and a list of tropes tells me nothing about the story. It doesn’t draw me in at all. My eyes glaze over and I keep scrolling.

If they’ve truly replaced humans, then why are they still stealing our shit? The people who push this stuff will do *anything* to mask the issue of training. They call human labor “data” and humanize the AI to obscure violations they’ve committed in training it.

The “taking jobs” of AI is suspicious framing, anyway. In some ways it is, in other ways it isn’t. The problem is how it’s trained—if the goal is truly “replace humans”, then why are these so reliant on humans continuously creating work?

When I tossed out the old container of paints used to do the cover painting for WORDS OF RADIANCE, it landed upside down in my wastebasket on a piece of paperboard I had been using as a palette for something else. 1/2

The meta-elements definitely made me think of my own role as a storyteller. The music was great (as usual, your games always have great music). I enjoyed the visual style. I noticed incongruous elements in some of the backgrounds (weird posters) that heightened the “wrongness”

I finished the demo for laugh track. Love it. The sitcom elements reminded me of the hyper-stylistic elements of a teen Nickelodeon or Disney Channel sitcom—but then the horror elements and anomalies would bleed through. Characters would be on the verge of self-awareness. Cat is intriguing.

Watch out for burn out! You’ve already done a lot. It’s okay to give yourself permission to chill. I’m always teetering between burn out and gettin things done—it’s a thin line.
